All the best of luck, although it'll be hard for you guys to competite with MAW and OFF. :P
BTW, what makes you feel that CFS2 modding is easier to learn?
Just curious, since "3" has SDK support and a full toolset whereas "2" needs a lot of hacking in many areas.

Let's outlive CFS3

Postby Bombardier101 » Sat Sep 03, 2005 4:31 am

Cor, I forgot there was an SDK. It's just that I found it easier to learn CFS2 whereas I gave up trying to see how CFS3 works, it does seem a very wierd sim engine. Well if I can get enough CFS2 designers together we might stand a chance in competition. I know we could do some 'magnifique' things with CFS2! ;D Well CFS2 is still alive and well and it will never run out of steam as far as I'm concerned. You could say it's almost like 'renewable energy'. When campaigns etc. of WW2 are all made and nothing hasn't been touched on their is WW1, Vietnam, Gulf war, Iraq war (well maybei if there's enough info on sorties) and then making campaigns etc. of fictional TV shows, movies etc. I don't think steam will runout for extremely long, maybe never. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D 8)

Oh, CFS2 does neither jets nor slow flying WWI crates all that good due to 1. airfile limitations as far as jets go and 2. airfile and AI-limitations when it comes to WWI (AI_always_flies_150mph).
Has all been tried years ago but most gave up on it.

Nah, I think CFS2 is almost on it's last leg, Bombardier!

Sure, we can create Expansion Packs for it, but as long as it's off the shelves in shop's it'll slowly but surely continue to fade away!

Stratobat

And by the time these come out no one will even rember CFS3 at all. How long has it been since these were first touted about? A year or more ???

I disagree, CFS2 has never been better, now my machines  50times better than CFS2's engineers could have ever devised!

I'm sure CFs3 will be the same.

I can now play CFS2 at whatever settings I like, with max anti-alaising, loads ofaction etc on screen with no slowdown or stutters whatsoever.

Alas, CFS3 will still slow & stutter from time to time.

I practically ignore it & stay with CFS2, its superb imo.

No doubt, once I have a geforce 9 series, I'll return to CFs3 to see how it runs.  ;)

Yes, one year. Pretty much expected that it takes that long given the size of the project.
I think you're wrong though as far as the longevity of CFS2 goes.
I agree with Stratobat that it's dead apart from a handfull hardcorers like you and me who still deal with it.
All we've seen over the past three years developed for it is the odd mission set or a converted FS9 plane.
AFAIK AF-Midway was the last major contribution to CFS2 and that's long time ago.

Mathias you are wrong about CFS2 as always. I do not understand why anybody would like to see any of this two great Sims die.

I"m sorry Bombadier. This is a subject that has been debated many times before.

I"m sick of it. We as a community need both this Sims. They both bring us great joy.

Lets work together and not divide this great community.

One cannot replace the other. Now if you Guys do not mind I would like to see this BS post die a quick death.

Your right, CFS2 is better now than ever before, but I think your missing my point, Scania
(Read Below) :)

Hehe, don't forget some of the Fox Four stuff ;)

I do not understand why anybody would like to see any of this two great Sims die.

Nobody want's to see these two Sim's kick the bucket, James, but I think we all need to realise that the only people still contributing to it's expansion are those who have been doing so for year's. There's no new blood coming into this Sim at the Development level. There's hundred's of thousand's of people who still play the Sim and download add-on's, but there's no new Developer's coming into the mix. I haven't even seen a copy of CFS2 in the Shops for over 3 years now. In fact, when I got my copy of CFS2 in 2002/ 2003, I had to phone literally every PC Shop in the area and even some in a neighboring State, nobody carries the Sim anymore
(Save for maybe eBay and Amazon if your lucky)!

This is why I'm saying it's almost on it's last leg. We can create Expansion Pack's for CFS2 and continue to breathe life into it from time to time, but it'll still fade away by the mere virtue of the fact that there's no new blood coming into the Sim and because it's no longer commercially available anymore!

Stratobat

Even dow guys I really hate this type of post. I have to clarify some things. CFS2 has never been stronger and better developed. Even dow there are many areas still to bee improved.

Mathias you assertion that there have been a few mission packages and f9 planes developed and converted for this program is just wrong.

There are many packages and sceneries plus planes been made to this game.

Just in the last two days Thicko uploaded a La5 and La7 that are not f9 convertions.

Akemis planes. They are not F9 convertables.

Usio is still developing Ships for this program. What about Akemis and what about Piloto Azul.

Thats another great thing about this Sim. The ability to convert planes from F9 to CFS2. Is not that a great option.

What can you tell about the Ships Collins have developed for this Sim.

What can you tell me about Stiz several Land Texures and Ocean Texture improvements as well.
The reason there are very few CFS2 available in the market now days is that it selled well at its time.

I"m sorry I forgot Jimkos Pacific Textures.

Xaviers Bases. Over 360 new bases plus 70 more that he is developing for Japan.

There many more but I do not the space to write all their names in.

You got to remember that this program is 5 years old and still going strong.

I can still see CFS3 in shelf of some PC stores. The reason for that is that it has not sell as well as its predecesors did.

Any program thats is still in store shelf after two year in the Market is simply not a great seller.

You think Hadgar and his group are a fools for developing a Korean Campaign knowing that CFS2 does not support Jets properly.

Stiz keep developing your World war one project please. This way we will have two version of World war one instead of the only one.

I know some people never developed a taste good for this program.

The reason is simple. They detest the Pacific Theater.

Now let me explain something.
