With CFS3, and in a level bomber like the B-17, B-25, B-26, you have to make sure that you are flying straight and level at correct mission altitude, and pointing at the target, before you move to the Bombardier seat.
Most good missions allow you to warp to the Initial Point of the Bomb run, so you should be set up when you come out of warp, and only need a little elevator trim adjustment to keep you flying smoothly.
If you are at the wrong altitude and speed, the AI pilot will immediately attempt to correct that when you jump to a gunner seat, but then why do you jump to a gunner seat in a Bomb run?
Once you are straight and level, and the target is beginning to pass under you, jump to the Bombardier seat. As Bombardier, you are now in charge of the aircraft, and must do the following:
1. Zoom out the view so you can see the target
2. Make sure the Bombsight crosshair is visible - it's the same key that brings up the cockpit view.
3. Open the Bomb Bay Doors
4. Select the Payload/Weapons
5. Make minor adjustments to keep the target lined up with stick, rudder, or differential throttle. It's useful having the HUD up at this point, because your attitude indicator is essential.
6 When the target passes under the centre of the crosshair, hit the Bomb release button, and keep hitting it until all the Bombs have gone. You can see the Bombs counting down on the right-hand HUD text.
7. Close Bomb Bay Doors
8. Return to Pilot Seat and egress area
9 Or watch the Bombs drop from the Bomb-view key
If you do not have keys assigned to these actions, then you need to go into settings and assign them.
