I'll be the first to say I'm not very good at 100%. Indeed, I won't be joining you just for a while yet, I need more hours under my wings first...

I've recently been flying a bit with the VMF251 squad, who are 100%... its an education I tell you! - Some of these guys are pro's and we still have collisions though!  ::)  - The collision problem is greatly reduced once everybody gets the game patched.... pity I always fly with people who have not worked it out yet... :(

Mods... I got plenty... mild to wild... I keep them in the mod rooms where they belong... The Zone however is being destroyed by idiots who can't follow my example  ::)  Theres alot of "Free Flight" rooms on the CFS2 zone... it makes me wonder if anybody tries to have battles in FS2000 / 2002 / 98 ???
Ok, ok, those in the know will agree CFS2 is a superior sim to FS2K, it just annoys the hell out of me when I log into Midway to find half of the rooms "NO SHOOTING" - It is called "COMBAT Flight Simulator" guys...  ;D

Anyway, I'll climb off my perch and shut up now... the zone awaits......

Oh I nearly forgot!  What names have you guys got on the zone? .. And has anybody managed to re-claim their old zonename? I tried and tried to get my old name... "_4_Series_Scania" what else?!? - but cant!  >:(  anybody tell me how you do it???

Anyway, if any of you want to look me up on the zone, perhaps shoot me down whilst I'm getting a screen shot of you!... my name is "I_am_Batfink" ... come fly with me, lets fly, lets fly lets die!

I love CFS2, and I'm a fan of multiplayer, but my experience with zone combat hasn't been all that fulfilling.  Either I can't fly for 15 seconds without getting decimated, or people accuse me of cheating.  When I do fly on the Zone, which is vary rarely, I usually go for the free flights.  

Of course, I'm alway a sucker for the WWI battles ...

I hear exactly what your saying... The Zone is sadly, very much "hit and miss" (Pardon the pun!), sometimes you drop into a room, where the guys in there fly fair, allow safe landings, keep the planes sensible etc etc

I'm increasingly (sadly) having to put passwords up, so the idiots keep out...

Squad flying is I guess, the future of the zone if you indeed, want to enjoy your experience.

Theres plenty of people out there who can't fly and assume anybody who can is a cheat... I had that exact experience last night, I met up with a guy, who was happy for me to fly my P40 "WARHAWK", (The one posted here @ Simviation...) he shot me to bits, I was virtually down, so, decided to lower my flaps & gear to see if I could land my crippled bird. He overflew me as my speed dropped, presenting me with a perfect oppertunity to fill his belly with lead, this I duly did,touching down whilst watching him slowly fall from the sky in flames.... what was his answer to me? - "You cheating b**tard!"

I think I convinced him I was'nt cheating once he came into a "Mod room" I then setup and invited him to... First he met my star wars X-wing.. (1500kts+) then my "Wraith", an unkillable armed with flak guns!?!

It just annoyed me greatly, my reward for snatching victory from near defeat during our battle, he could only call me a cheat!

I can see entirely why many folk won't even go into the zone any more. Sometimes I wonder why I bother trying to fly fair at all... everybody else seems to cheat or accuse you of doing so.


I greatly hoped Microsoft would have addressed the cheat issue when they recently updated the zone, and the log-in system sadly, they seem to have just screwed up most zonenames and not looked to the cheat / mod issue at all.......

Perhaps one day, they'll fix this trait sadly, I doubt it, Banning mods will indeed kill the cheaters, sadly though I would'nt be able to fly my P40 or indeed anything else that isn't straight off the CD.

Comments guys please! I'd like to know if me and Psychophant1 are the only guys who feel this ...... Over to you...........

Totally!  I don't get the cheater scolding when I shoot someone down, only when I stay alive.  You know, when your wing is shot to shreds, you have no aileron control, and using full rudder and flaps is just barely keeping me 10 ft off the ground.  I see someone acreaming "CHEATER!!!", and I sitting there thinking "WTF!!??  I couldn't be closer to dead if I was in a 6ft deep hole with people throwing dirt on me!"  Online, I only use 100% MS CD planes.  I don't even add Nibbio's screaming pilots, which is the first thing I do to any plane I D/L.  Maybe I should start using my altered aircraft, since they're altered for realism (read: harder to fly, heavier, less manuverable, slower shooting).

BTW, don't use the Screaming Corsair in a 100% room.  You need unlimited fuel, otherwise you're out of gas before your engind starts.

good said people!!! i miss playing on the zone couse CFS2 seems to hate multiplayer and then CFS2 shuts down  on me yeah, people have clame that i had fuel dump couse my george could out tern them when thay were in there zeros!! I didn't have fuel dump,what i had was skill!!!! geeeze some people on the zone just ain't know what you can push your plane to the limits!! and why, why don't people like the george??? ??

my expereince on the zone has been good, and i love playing at 100%!!! only problem is that you can't go long range sutch as on bomber runs from lae to lukina, what Microsoft should of included in multiplayer is FUEL TANKS LIKE THAY "ACTUALLY" USED IN WW2!!! I hope in CFS3 that you can have ordeince in multiplayer... And frame rates, when i'm in a game, someone brings this bad ass add-on, it eats up the frame rates and takes the fun out of the game!!

iz been in a number of squadrons like DFS, RNZAF, and the RAAF, but now, i like to rome on my own... my name on the zone is "ViNtAgE FlYeR" oh crap, iz haven't been on the zone since... ummmm...hmmmm.... last year! around on september i was last on...Nowa days, i kill the AIs and fly with them... ~S~!!!

AH HA! The dreaded, "You're cheating" accusation. I think most of us who have spent any time on the zone have been accused of cheating. I notice that it is the new guy who is doing the accusing. I have talked to sysop there and made a suggestion that b4 any new CFS2 flyer can join, he/she has to read a tutorial on "LAG", the effects it causes; the difference between a good pilot and a new or bad pilot; and any other thing that might look like a cheat to a new pilot. I have been accused of "Unlimited Reach Ammo", of course caused by lag, "You are using Fuel Dump" caused by being a superior pilot compared to that pilot, "You modified your air files or something", caused by me knowing how to fly a Hellcat. Diving on an opponent from 5,000 + feet when he is in a slow circling acft. can sure make it look like I am flying a jet. But, that was the Hellcat's strength. I am to the point where I tell them ONCE, "I never cheat, just ask about me in the zone lobby". Usually quites them up. But it took a long time of strictly honest flying to gain that reputation there. IT NEVER ENDS!!

new to this, trying a first post

I have been flying CFS2 since last March, my first combat sim after just two years in MSFS98 etc.  Started multiplayer six months ago, and consider myself a beginner still.  I found through trial and error that the best quality flying for me is one on one, where luck and chaos are reduced, and I stand a chance of learning something and improving my flying skills.

Through this I have come to have a fairly large group of "friends" some of whom are aces and very good, patient instructors.  I know when a new pilot shows up, it's a matter of chance whether it will be a successful encounter, but a fair number turn out to be worth adding to the friends list.  Now I stay away completely from group flights because of rhe chaos mostly, but also that's where the goofy people show up alot.

I guess my point is,you have to pick who you fly with, but if you do it can be a big challenge, and alot of fun.

I would love to see you on the Zone, for a one on one of course.  Maybe you pros could teach me something.

i see fireman's advertizing again  :P S~ all. It does look fun and i recomend you all to join. Ok he payed me to say that. lol No really fireman is a very honest pilot and the "Hoppers" is a great thing to be in. More enjoying then dogfighting sometimes.

I dunno, but I was in a CORSAIR ONLY room but these corsairs were ganging up on me.  2 would hang off in the distance and when I finally got a hold on on they'd all jump on me.  I dunno bout yall but I'd call that cheating.  I'm anti-social so I don't have a group of pilot/buddies and stuff so whenever I enter a room I feelin' suspicios of everybody.  The ONLY positive expierience 've had On the zone is when I landed folded my wings up and hid in between a hangar and a bunker.  I swear he musta crashed like 10 times tryin' to strafe me!  I guess that was cheating on my half but, hey, I'd like to be able to say I outscored somebody once!  I guess I'm asking is the HOPPERS a group where  can fly around and not worry 'bout nuthn'?  If it is Id like to seewhat it's aboot!  Later peeps!

Fireman - you're hopper URL keeps redirecting me to an advertising site which then does its best to get me dl a nasty bit of adware.
