Thinking Of Buying CFS2.

I wanted to know what everybody thought of CFS2. The ups and downs. Should I buy it or should I skip it and get CFS3? Which is better CFS2 or 3? Also, I wanted to know about the mission editor with Cfs2. Do you still have to find the lat/long for each object you place in a mission like the old CFS1 add-on mission builders? Or can you place it with a map overview? (I've heard people say that the old Jane's games were like this) Basically I'm looking for suggestions on whether to buy CFS2 or buy CFS3 or just wait for CFS4.

Very good game, the aircraft are good, the gameplay is great, the add-ons are awesome

Another good thing about CFS 2 is that you can use aircraft from FS 98, 2000, 2002 and 2004

get it . a brilliant game, relatively low cost, and loadsa loadsa downloads. and there is NOTHING like flying at low altitude over Koror strafing the place with rockets in a P-38 Lightning. Dude, i would so get the game. joystick recommended.

Do you have CFS1?  I got that one first a few years ago and spent many hours flying with it.  I did all of the single missions, did the campaigns numerous times and logged hundreds of hours with the quick combat and free flight.  

CFS2 simply did not work on my computer, so it sat on the shelf until I got a new computer.  The good:  great scenery, great looking planes, better damage effects, more realistic flight models.    The bad:  takes up lots of HD space and needs a very good machine to play.  Mine would not play smooth until I bought more ram and downloaded a newer driver for my brand new PC.  Single missions and campaigns are not as good as CFS1 in my opionion.

More good:  lots of add-ons available-- scenery, missions, planes.  Go for it!

By the way, I heard that there will not be a CFS4 for a few years, so I would go out and buy CFS2 right now

I'd say go for it. Had it myself for awhile back and like it a lot, until it got superseded by Il-2. Then I sold it to a mate and now I can't find another one anywhere Dammit. Any ideas how to get CFS 2 without creditcards?

I'd say go for it, too.

It's a great game with impressive visuals and a suitable challenging flight model - I'm afraid I'm not qualified to tell you how realistic it is, but as a game I think it's got a lot to offer someone with a desire to develop skills in it and have a lot of fun in the process.

I think it comes into its own in online play in particular - I'm afraid I also find the offline default campaign missions a bit uninspiring - unlike CFS1 campaigns, which I revisited again and again. Maybe it's a cultural thing - I'm a Brit so perhaps I feel closer to the European airwar than the Pacific.

There are some excellent add-ons however - check out the Groundcrew Design Group and Fox Four Korean campaigns (available on Simviation) in particular.

If you do take the plunge, think about joining an online squad. I fly with CAW-15 (hem, hem) and we're always happy to welcome new members (say I sent you)

BTW - I've been flying both CFS1 and 2 on a tired old IBM ThinkPad laptop with 128MB RAM for around 2 years and manage pretty well (though I am upgrading to a lean, mean killing machine shortly... ;-)

I my opinion I would get CFS2 and foget about CFS3
You will get a lot more injoyment out of CFS2.
CFS3 is not a good flight Sim you will have nothing
but headaches with it. I have had CFS1 and CFS2
eversense they first come out a few years back,
I have never had any trouble with CFS1 or CFS2
But I bought CFS3 when it first come out and it
has been nothing but problems from start to finish.
I finally gave up on it and uninstalled CFS3 and threw
it in a drawer and I have tryed to forget about it.
In my opinion DON'T BUY CFS3- BUY CFS2
