I happened to have this file on my HD so I checked it out. I remember downloading it as problems have been reported before.

fbvigen.zip is the generic model that contains both flyable & AI Only versions of the aircraft. When you unzip the package you should have 3 folders named loadouts, Mosquito FBVI & Mossie FBVI AI. Mosquito FBVI is the flyable aircraft. They have no Texture folders so these would need to be installed separately for the aircraft to show on the menu. The way Aircraft.cfg is configured means that these texture folders would need to have their correct folder names to work. The texture folder for the D-Day version must be named Texture.upp for the textures to display. This folder would be installed to flyable & AI Only versions of the aircraft if you wish to use both.

You would need to have all the texture sets installed for everything to work properly. I always thought this is an odd way to configure an aircraft. If you know how it's done it might be better to remove the Aircraft.cfg entries for the versions you don't want.

PS. An alternative method would be to create 5 new folders in the flyable version of the aircraft. These can be copied into the AI version if you wish. The folders would be renamed Texture.tsb, Texture.teg, Texture.ned, Texture.thz & Texture.upp. Paste the texture files for the D-Day version you have into Texture.upp. They will now all display on the menu but only one will be textured.

~S~ all

I have a real thing about Mosquitos (blame watching 633 Squadron at a formative age... :-).... so was frustrated when I couldn't get this version to work - I will try again on the basis of this discussion. Thanks!

BTW - I got interested in nightfighting after reading 'Night Fighter' by CF Rawnsley & Robert Wright, Crecy Publishing Ltd (1998) and set up some interesting QCs with my Gryphon Mosquito. One day I aim to put together a NF campaign - but this will have to wait until I get the sack so I can find the time... ;-)

Try taking your mozzy in VC mode against that big ol' GroundCrew Heinkel at night and in cloud...

Night fighters? have you seen Bruno Escarvages mission for the Gryphon? i cant make it work could be the scenery he's used, i'm on steve Mclellands it's on www.simviation.com/cfs2missions11.htm  & it's bottom of the page.

Hi Happ. I'll check the mission out later. 3rd party scenery shouldn't affect missions in any way. They will work perfectly well without it installed although it obviously won't look quite right.

The first thing I would suspect to cause problems with any missions is the aircraft. The problem is made worse when missions require a separate download of 3rd party aircraft. These must be installed as intended with their correct folder names to be recognised in the mission.

This is made even worse by the method used for configuring this particular Mossie.* For the mission to work both flyable & AI Only versions would need to be installed using their correct folder names & with their original Aircraft.cfg files. The method of using dummy texture folders I mentioned works fine for me. I can't think why you had problems.

The alternative would be to edit the mission to recognise your version of the Mossie.  Aircraft configured with several different variations in one folder might be recognised by the Aircraft.cfg title= entries & not their folder names.

*PS. The Mossie I'm talking about is the Phil Burnage one you originally asked about. I haven't checked out the Gryphon version.

yeah... Hagar, out of curiosity i've downloaded the Gryphon mossie & tried Bruno's night fighter mission again, opening it in mission builder , a prob' straight away' no file exists' appears, browse to the file & you can open it ( .0 is missing from the file title) then 'no He 111 to be found' that's OK after loading a default zero i changed it to a Dornier i had & ran the mission, prob' again, it's air-starting instead of taxi-takeoff as in the intel, it goes pear shaped after that, it's a real time mission too no warp, a pity really, Padser might have enjoyed it !Unless i've got a corrupted zip somehow...

I doubt the file is corrupted. It's more likely a bug with the mission. I often wonder if it's worth the trouble to download all those files for the sake of one mission.

Happ. I downloaded the mission to check it out. Here's what it says in the instructions.

Requires :

- Castle Camps scenery by Martin Wright at :
http://www.mnwright.freeserve.co.uk/
- RAF_Manston scenery by Ian Elliot at :                  http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery7.htm
- The He111 that came within the most excellent "Poland39" campaign :                       http://flightsimmers.net/airfield/robin/misje.html
- Mosquito NFII night fighter by Gryphon Aviation at : http://www.simviation.com/gryphon/cfs2/aircraft.htm

Unless you have these files, particularly the aircraft, installed correctly you're bound to get error messages.
