Importing Downloaded Aircraft into Editor?

Postby Hashcake » Wed Jan 28, 2004 1:05 am

How do I add aircraft that are not the default, so that they show up in the mission editor?  >:( :( ???
And what if the plane uses non default weapons?
Do I add both to the mdl.txt list? ??? :-/ :'(

Hashcake,

Just put the aircraft in CFS 2's aircraft folder. Then start up the Mission Builder. They should automatically be there.

For the weapons, make sure they're installed to the right directories... Dp's to OBJECTS_DP and BGL and Bitmaps to Scenedb/Weapons. There should be a loadout option in the Mission Builder, just choose which loadout you want (bombs, rockets... etc).

I think that'll do it... I haven't used the Mission Builder for a long time so I might be a little off ???

PS: Welcome to the Forums ;D

Regards,
Stratobat

Thanx for the info Stratobat - I discovered from another forum that my problem has been caused by having to many aircraft loaded in cfs2, seems there is a limit of around 90-100 (strange that cfs2 would load but editor would not).
But thanx again for the info on the weapons. :)

The mission editor comes with cfs2 - check your programs list for microsoft games - there you will find the mission editor.

Hi Hashcake & welcome to SimV. Just to explain the lack of replies. Not everyone here visits the forum every day so please don't expect immediate replies. I try to check the CFS1 & CFS2 forums regularly but only comment when I think I can help. Otherwise I keep quiet. I certainly don't know all the answers. I see no point in replying just to say I can't help. I would never have guessed the reason for your problem from your original question.

I believe the CFS2 aircraft limit is due to a limit on the Mission Builder, not the sim itself. No other M$ sim has a limit on installed aircraft. This is mentioned on my CFS2 FAQ page. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2faq.htm

Me neither ???

Squall,

Send a shortcut of the cfs2.exe file too your Desktop. Then change the Target under the Properties tab too...

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 2\cfs2.exe" /BUILDER:

You should now be able to access the Mission Builder :)

You will also need to have your screen resolution set to 1024 to run the mission editor. If you are importing from CFS1, the aircraft will only have guns as weapons. You will have to borrow a dp file from some other CFS2 aircraft if you want bombs/rockets etc
