Gun Types

Postby JLDoggGT » Sat Sep 27, 2003 5:29 pm

Hiya All!!!!!!!! :)

I know I have seen it some where but can't find now. What I want is a list of the gun numbers for CFS2 and their sounds. I have tried to cut and paste different ones to get what I want but doesn't work. I have notes on what the diferent #s mean in th DP files. I want to replace the .303 mgs in the Beaufighter wing with .5 (2ea. wing) and the 6-50s in the A-20 with 4-20mm.
can any one direct me to where I can find that info????

Thanks for any help

I would suggest using DPED Version 1.10 to modify the DP files. http://www.simviation.com/cfs2utilities1.htm
It automatically assigns the correct sounds to selected weapons.

But FYI the numbers are as follows:

Gun Type:
 gun = 0,
 cannon = 1,
 rocket = 2,
 bomb = 3,
 flak = 4,
 torpedo = 5

Trigger:
 gun = 1,
 cannon = 2,
 rocket = 4,
 bomb = 8,
 flak = 16,
 torpedo = 32

Sound:
 .303 = 0,
 7.7mm =1,
 .50 = 2,
 13mm = 3,
 20mm = 4,
 30mm = 5,
 40mm = 6

Hope that helps

My F4F-4C's name is Nasty Little Bastard

It is equipped with 2X20 mm and 400 rounds each gun.

My mod, in general, to the 3US DP file:
Open both the F6F-5C DP and F4F-4 DP in windows explorer.
Save a copy of the F4F-4 DP.
Copy only the guns 0 and 1 F5F-5C.
Save into F4F-4 under guns.
Delete all other F4F-4 guns.
In F6F-5C go to bottom of DP and locate the two reference to 20 mm guns.  Copy
Save into F4F-4 same place in DP file
Delete F4F-4 50 gun data same place.

You will not have a round counter.
I changed 20 mm loadout to 400 rounds each gun.
Thats about the weight of the 4 50's and ammo.

Hiya All
and Thanks for the replies.
But(call me dense) How do you tell a Japanese 20mm form a US or RAF 20mm???
I have tried reading the tutorial on adding guns and am confused  ???. for example the F6F gunstations start out
"gunstation.0=0,24,1,0.08,839"
"gunstation.1=0,31,1,0.08,839"
I think I understand it but the '24' and the '31' throw me off. I have added some plane like the F7F and it's GSs are '.0=1,47,2,0.00,549" the '47' being the 20mm??
the Zeros have .0=0,45,etc. and .1=1,47.
The Shinden addon with 30mm '.0=1,24,etc and the Me-262 addon also with 30mm show '.0=1,-3 and .1=1,-4'
LOL I don't want to add a 30mm to my F4B or P6E instead of a .50cal.
I am sure their are differences between the different guns just like the planes.
I hope I haven't confused you too ;D
again thanks for any help

"gunstation.0=0,24,1,0.08,839"
"gunstation.1=0,31,1,0.08,839"

I tried substituting 1 for 24 but couldn't see a difference static firing on the ground.  That's one way to find out. Insert a large or small value, save the DP, Open in Free Flight on the ground, pan to the front of the A/C and fire the guns.
The 0.08 is the interval between rounds.
839 is muzzle velocity in meters per second.
The next group of numbers is for AI flight and the largest number is the maximum AI firing range in meters.
The balance of numbers describes the round trajectory.  My guess.
