Lost it

Postby forfun » Fri Dec 17, 2004 3:25 am

Hey
Is CFS1 freeware now? I know it's not but im gonna ask anyways in hope. Because i have a new computer now and have actually lost the game, and it was a really great game, and i miss it.

I'll just have to buy the new CFS, is it as good as number 1 though?

cheers

CFS1 is not freeware but it's still available if you know where to look. If your local software store doesn't have it I'm sure you could find a copy on Ebay. As for the new CFS as you put it, CFS2 is excellent & many developers like me are still creating addons for it. I can't comment on CFS3 as it won't run any sense on my old machine, although I was unimpressed with what I saw when I tried it. While browsing in PC World last week I couldn't help noticing that CFS2 was still being sold at its original price of

What machine are you running? (specs wise)

Because i heard that CFS3 runs quite well on less able ( ;)) computers. Because of the new engine.

~S~

At PC World the other day, I picked up a 5-CD package including a couple of Helicopter sims I haven't flown yet, CFS1 and both a Cold War and Pacific-based CFS1 addon (very nice Corsair included) for the princely sum of

Try eBay, you'll find it there for a song I'm sure ;)

I think this would depend on the individual machine. Mine is a PIII 800, 512 Mb RAM + Voodoo5 5500 running on WinMe. I never really expected CFS3 to run well on it so can't say I was too upset when it didn't. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the performance of FS9 on "old faithful". It will have to last me a bit longer yet.

My experience is the exact opposite of Grizzly's. CFS1 was my first M$ sim. To be honest I didn't think much of it at all until I found the fledgling Simviation. It wasn't even called that when I first stumbled across it. I'd only been online for a few weeks & didn't know my way around. I soon learned how to convert FS98 aircraft to work in CFS1 & never looked back. This is the attraction of CFS & FS for me. You can make it exactly as you want it. I've never played online as it never appealed to me. Depends what floats your boat. ;)
