No weapons(when there should be)

Postby mag_ddave » Fri Mar 21, 2003 10:42 pm

???Well,I hope someone responds to this.I got some great help with my scenery building questions from Hagar last time(I fixed 'em Hagar, thanks! ;D)
My new problem is some Flightdeveloper and Alpha flight airplanes I downloaded have no weapons when all the other guys in my squad are getting guns and bombs. These planes are C-133,B-58,B-2,A-10,and F-117.At one time I had guns and one bomb on my C-133.Now thats gone and all the rest which i downloaded recently have no weapons.I must have overwritten a file or something.Does anyone have any ideas how to  get the guns & bombs to activate(instead of being grayed out in the weapons load out boxes).Oh yeah, this is for CFS1 :'(

Dave if you go to the CFS1 downloads page here, there is a tutorial on installing the weapons so they work, as I had to add them to a Mosquito a while back.
I think its under the Misc. section (but my memory isn't what it used to be), it explains everything.

MAG_Ddave. Glad I helped with the scenery. ;)

I suspect you deleted the default DP file when you were having a clearout. We've all done something similar at one time, I did exactly the same myself over 4 years ago when I first started messing around with CFS1.

Look in the CFS\Aircraft folder for a file named default.dp. This is a generic DP file based on the Spitfire_MkIX which gives imported FS98 aircraft without their own DP files basic weapons. If it's missing, the easiest method for fixing it would be to paste a copy of the stock Spitfire DP file into CFS\Aircraft & rename it default.dp.

This is obviously not accurate for anything except the Spitfire & a proper DP file for each aircraft is much better.

;D Thanks again Hagar.Seems like you're always bailing me out of my own trouble lol.You were right, kinda. The stock dp file is in the AC folder,BUT... no dp files for each aircraft.I'm new to dp files,so i checked and other AC each had their own dp file.I tried "borrowing" one & renaming it but that didn't work.I'll just get someone in the squad to send me copies of theres. But the big question is why??Other planes dl fine, weapons and all.But the c-133,a-10,f-117,b-2 all come without dp files.what would prevent that file from showing up.or getting deleted in the download or copy to AC folder process? I'm puzzled ???By the way, your help with AFD's,missing scenery objects and textures has helped me finish my carrier battle groups. All three are going up at CFSDownloads.com this week end.Take a look. At Guines too.Very cool Martin Wright action macros. Thanks again for your help. :) :D ;D

Hi MAG_Ddave. I suspect those are FS98 aircraft which don't have DP files. That's where the default.dp comes in. If it's in the CFS\Aircraft folder it should automatically give any aircraft without one a basic DP.

The alternative is to copy/paste a DP from a similar type into each problem aircraft. Rename it using the exact file prefix as the AIR file or it won't work. For example, the DP for an aircraft with the AIR file named Myplane.air would be Myplane.dp. Always delete the appropriate CDP file when editing or replacing DP files or any changes wont show up.

Glad you fixed the scenery. I might check it out later although I don't use CFS1 much these days.
