Well, not necessarily. When I was training in 1962 for my Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor certificates at a flight school in Ardmore, OK, we used to do this tailwheel runway drag in a Cessna 140 just to prove what hot-shots we were. It was a private airfield with a non-FAA control tower and nobody every challenged us. Man, we really thought we were something special...

Hello Flexi, back in the days when Jane Fonda was young and had a 20inch waist I trained in the old Fleet Model 80 taildragger. I really loved it and I enjoyed its snappy spins and stalls as well as mild aerobatics in it.
I used to take great pride in dragging the tailwheel on 3-point landings. Whenever I flew with an instructor on a yearly re-check etc. I would try hard to drag that tailwheel just before the rest of the airplane settled onto the main gear. When it worked out I always got a nice compliment from the Instructor. They said it was proof of a perfect full-stall touchdown. It was fun to practice that so I gradually got pretty good at it. Thanks for bringing back that memory. If you could drag the tailwheel in a C140 you WERE something special.
