Now there is someone that does not care what anyone thinks about him. I noticed that even the young boy behind him laughed when he asked the question. But at least we now know that there was never any life on Mars. On the surface anyway

Keep smiling

Back in the late '80's one of those fine fellows asked what was being done to keep alcoholics from driving on the information super highway (an old name for the internet).

People just keep on electing them.

It just beggars belief. We elect these people and allow them to make decisions which affect our lives. There should be some test of a candidates level of intelligence and competency before they are permitted anywhere near public office.

Furthermore, the NASA response was pathetic. It was treated seriously and reflects the soft PC nature we have allowed ourselves to be cowed into in this modern all inclusive everybody must be taken seriously out of fairness world we now live in. He should have been laughed out the building. Instead they treat the question as a legitimate one which just enables the idiocy even further. This stuff just makes me mad.

When one of your bosses says something incredibly stupid you have to handle it VEERRYYY carefully.

That idiot who was concerned about drunk drivers on the internet super highway? He kept getting elected until he retired.

In the end, it's "WE" who are the test of weather they're fit to govern us.

I remember reading, several times, that people always think that THEIR elected officials are ok, but all the rest range from worthless to bad.

What's the shock here? The show Ancient Aliens has credited 'aliens' for everything -- not only living on Mars but the Moon, Earth... most everywhere; why, they're the reason for our existence and the means by which we extremely stupid humans, descended from ancestors of the same, know and can do anything...
considering our human inabilities, centuries from now a new show, Ancient Aliens Revisited, will reveal how our current skyscrapers and other constructions were the work of aliens...

According to the "ancient astronaut theorists" sky scrapers probably are. It amazes me how the talking heads on that show give early humans no credit for figuring things out for themselves. On one segment, one of the regular was talking about some Aztec, or Mayan, ruins built above the tree line, and said the (implied stupid) mainstream scientists propose using log rollers to help move huge stones. But since the ruins were above the tree line, where, oh where, would they have gotten log rollers? Apparently, the ancient builders were too stupid to think about going down the mountain and drag some logs up hill. Therefore: Aliens!!! Gaaaah! The staggering intellect of the talking heads makes my head hurt

As soon as someone says 'The Mayan stone architecture (math & engineering) was 10 times better than Roman stone architecture' someone will say 'They had help from Aliens'. WRONG! There were NO Aliens involved!

I can't help but provide you with an assist here.
My grandmother's gardening helped support the family during summer but my dad, the eldest male in the family during the "Great Depression" (@ 1929 - 1941), quit school at 14 to do his own logging so the family could make it through the winter. After felling, stripping the trees and hitching the major load of logs to the horse team, he strapped one more log to himself and headed to the saw mill, over hill and dale, quite some miles away.
Nope, humans would never think of dragging logs to another location...
