Actually, when I lived in Minnesota, I used to call them "square tires".

Overnight the rubber would freeze into a flat spot where they rested on the ground. It could take a few minutes of driving before they warmed up enough to return to round.

Minnesota was the only place that I lived where I had to plug my car in, to keep it "warm" overnight. :D
