This is a topic that has a very personal meaning to me.
There is a Lake in Manitoba named after my great uncle, who was a soldier in the 1st battalion Winnipeg Grenadiers. My Father has the commemorative certificate framed in his house for the naming of the lake. I've been within 100 miles of the lake in my northern survey work, but never had the opportunity to get onto it. One day....
Although not an airforce member, my great uncle fought in the Battle of Hong Kong, and was declared MIA. Neither my father nor I ever new him, but none the less, we are proud to share our name with is namesake lake in Manitoba.
