Today's Sunday trip from Abergavenny back to Hereford on a nice warm day. A bit cloudy, but warm...I like "Warm"!.... ....!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvHCt4uH68o

Lapel Microphone located in my open-face helmet, and enclosed in my new; "Hairy" wind-shield to reduce the wind noise.

Partly successful, but I am still cursed with the annoying transmission gear whine from inside my clutch cover!

Far too much overall noise, so no; "Voice" narration. "Text" narration only!

It seems to work fairly well in my editing, and I'm no good at; "talking", anyway!.... ...!

A very enjoyable trip...as always!

Yesterday's long afternoon trip in glorious warm/hot sunshine along some of the Herefordshire highways....

....which includes the attack of the 18-Wheeler, and Three Harley Davidson Riders of the Apocalypse!.... :o ...>>>

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WY6zGnTHVA

A lovely leisurely ride, except when being chased by impatient motorists!.... ...!

Still experimenting with the microphone placement to reduce the wind and annoying transmission noise.

This time I placed the "hairy" Mic in a foam-filled pouch, and placed it in my motorcycle leather jacket pocket...
....(I am attached to the handlebar camera via a long length of wire)...
..the results can be heard, but I will never be able to obtain the satisfying rumble of a pair of Harley mufflers... ...!

My 360 degree firing angle, vertical-twin, Honda Rebel engine, just doesn't make it...even on a warm Summer day!!... ...!

The journey was plagued by my left-hand mirror constantly spinning around on its ball-joint which has lost its "friction", so a new pair of OEM mirrors are on order....for safety.

Another fantastic hot day is forecast for today, so another trip is on the books, after breakfast...
...and more stuff for You-Tube!

Of course you should - loud exhausts save lives. :auto-dirtbike:

Caution, rant ahead :angry-screaming:

One thing that the eco-nutters fail to take account of is mileage. Obviously, a car with a cat that does 20,000 miles per year causes a lot more pollution that a Harley that only does 8000. A stinking bus that’s on the road all day makes a mockery of people with “clean” cars who think they are doing their bit for the environment. It seems to me that all this ecobabble is just another ploy by governments to extract ever more cash from defenceless motorists. It’s time for a revolution brothers! We should all stop paying road tax. :scared-eek: Would the roads get any worse? NO, because they don’t even spend the money on roads. :angry-soapbox:

All clear, rant completed. :angelic-cyan:

Well....

...wady-ya-know.... :o ...!

The last couple of days have been fantastic, and the Land of the Angles has been blessed with warm/hot sunshine, and I have been taking advantage of it, with lots of motorbike rides around the countryside on my Trusty Steed!

Yesterdays trip was to the Royal Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, in anticipation of meeting some of my many Children, Grandchildren, and great-Grandchildren who live there!

After sitting out in one of their gardens for hours and hours on end, waiting for them to arrive back home from work, I found out, after I got back home again, that they had all gone away on holiday for a week.

Do you you sometimes feel, (involving family matters), that like Mushrooms, you are kept in the dark and fed on animal waste products?.... :( ....!

Anyhow....

...the ride in the sunshine was very enjoyable, and I switched my camera on at the village of Ruardean, in the Forest, en-route on my journey back home!...>>>

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3tBzRZsvMI

The change in brilliant, late evening sunshine, into deep shadows, was giving my video camera a really hard time trying to keep up with the ever-changing exposure!... ....!

I'm still troubled by the annoying transmission gear whine in my Rebel, but a local dealer tells me that many Honda Rebels suffer from the problem...I am just one of the unlucky owners!.... ...!

The next job for me, is to remove the exhaust baffles from both of my Silencers/Mufflers, (Your Honour!), in the hope that the exhaust sound will drown out the annoying gear whine sound!

I often wonder if a lavalier (lapel) microphone with "noise cancelling" built-in exists, to reduce/stop unwanted extraneous noise from being recorded!

The "Hairy Stuff" I fitted over my Mic stops most of the wind noise, but there is still lots on unwanted noise entering the Mic.

On other You-Tube videos, all I hear is the sound of the narrator's voice, and the glorious rumble of their 45 degree vee-twin engines.... ....
...how do they manage to do it?.... ...!

There you go Chums, weather permitting, more bike rides in the next few days!

In the meantime, don't forget to visit my You-Tube Channel for lots of Motorcycle rides around the countryside!...>>>

Collected my bike from the garage today, well, I think it is my bike.... :? I had a few bits and bobs done to her. Two of those things, a new cam chain tensioner....I can now hear spiders farting a mile away.... and two new tyres......It is like having a new bike....with power steering... 8-) (I bought the bike about four months ago and the tyres were seven years old..... as pointed out by the garage when I took her in)

Good news, Matt...!

Don't forget to take it really steady on those snazzy new tires tyres until they are properly scrubbed-in!....

I have seen far too many fast-lads taking bends/corners at high speed on shiny new tyres, and ending up with a crashed Bike and lots of broken bones!

*********
Cam chains and tensioners. I think the Japanese invented them!.... ;) ....!

All our old Brit bikes had push-rods and rocker-arms with lock-nuts....simple stuff!

At least the old Harleys still have push-rods in their V-Twin engines, (I don't know about the new Evo, V-Twin engines?).

...like Tug's new Harley Fat Boy?... ...1

There is something nostalgic about push-rods!... :) ...!

(My Flight Sim Cessna 150/152's have Pushrod engines!)

*********
Had a FAB ride-out today, (August Bank Holiday Monday), in beautiful sunshine!

Met up with one of my biker Sons on his new Triumph Triple, and his wife, (my gorgeous Daughter-in-Law), on her new Yamaha MTO-3 654cc Bike, in the Abergavenny Bus Park, with zillions of other Bikers!

My little "Daisy" (Honda CMX 250C Rebel Cruiser) treated me with big grins, as usual, as she cruised along at sensible speeds along the A465 Trunk Road separating The Kingdom of England from the land of the Welsh (Owain Glendower and his motley crew)!.... :D ....!

A fantastic ride, only obtainable on Motorcycles!.... ...!

I just hope the nice weather keeps up for a while yet!

You bet, Log...

She's not; "queer"....;) ... ;) ...., but quite a few folks who take an interest in her comment on the fact that they seem to be very rare in Great Britain, (although they are as common as poo in the USA)... :) ...!

She nestles in very nicely between all the various Harley models parked up, and I always get a thumbs-up; " V" from the Vee-Twinners on the road, (even though she is a parallel twin)....Its nice!... :D ...!

I realise now, just how "manageable" she is, compared with my other super-sports bikes....
...she is a fun machine...(As then Bishop tells the Actress).... ...!

There is always a wide assortment of Harleys there, from the small Sportsers (72, 48, 1200, Iron, etc), to the Street Glides, Trikes, etc,

Apart from the seat, the most uncomfortable experience is the excessive/dangerous wind noise in my ears, (open-face helmet) even with my ear plugs in!
I prefer an open-face helmet for all round, safe visibility.
I think I may have to get a tighter-fitting helmet...my head is shrinking with age... ...!

More trips tomorrow with the temp reaching 23 degrees C... :) ...!
