Took advantage of yesterdays, (Thursday 12th May), warm sunshine for a fantastic 1 hour 15 minutes trip from Hereford, via Leominster, through the beautiful Herefordshire early Summer countryside, and back home again!

I videoed the whole trip, (as usual), together with text narrations along the way describing the journey!

The only problem is, only me can watch it!.... ....!

The Video is just under 3 GB long, and Dropbox limits my free files to 2 GB in length, and You-Tube files not only takes FOREVER to upload at my Broadband upload speed of 0.06 Mb/s, but also has various limitations on the files to upload....

..so I am mostly stuffed when it comes to supply a link to all my amazing motorcycle videos!

You have no idea what you are missing!... :o ....!

Summer is on the way now, so with my SJ Cam; SJ 4000 video camera attached to various parts of my anatomy and my motorcycle, its time for lots of amazing motorcycle trips with lots of videos again!

Its fun time on two-wheels!.... ....

...wish you were here!... ;) ...!

Hi,
just looked up the specification of your camera, if you had the inclination you could load the footage into your computer and convert it to a compressed format, quite a few free tools for that. You could share the footage via QQ international (free) they allow up to 50GB file transfers and will store the file online so you can share it multiple times with one upload.

Have not ridden a bike for years, my last bike was a Royal Enfield Crusader Sport, vintage now but I loved it.

Best wishes

Thanks for that Tony, the informaton is very useful. Royal Enfield eh? Back in 1960 I had an old '37 model G 350cc. I was enviously eyeing up the new (then) 750cc Constellation, but opted for a used Vicent HRD 998. I wish I had any of them now. Mind you, I'd have trouble getting my leg over the saddle. :auto-sportbike:

Hello James...

I am using free "Dropbox" at the moment to send my motorcycle video files to selected folks, but I am limited to 2GB of storage space on Dropbox.
If I want to upload another video file, I have to delete the previous file to make room for the new one!

I could upload larger files to You-Tube, but my biggest problem is the time it takes to UPLOAD files at my UK Broadband upload speed of 0.6 Mb/s!

It takes DAYS at that speed, to upload quite a small video file!

I have installed the QQ Program you recommended, so I will have a peek at that.... ;) ...!

I assume that my "Windows Movie Maker" will automatically cope with the file compression required during the editing process!

Many/most of the USA folks seem to have very much faster Upload Speeds to You Tube than we poor folks do here in the UK...
...which probably accounts for the fact that most of You Tube contains American material!

Paul...sending my videos down an extremely long telephone copper wire.....at a snail's pace!.... ....!

P.S. My Download speed is 8-10 Mb/s. Upload speed is 0.6-0.8 Mb/s....on a good day!!

Paul, I have the exact same upload/download figures as you. I complain like crazy because I pay the max price for what's available to me (10Mbs d/l) yet all I can get is 6mbs. I have the Sam knows box attached which sends a report to the CRTC,(Canadian authority) but it doesn't matter. I guess it's where I live! Good job I don't make movies or use the internet for a living anymore. :ugeek:

I am OK with the Download speeds, Log, for what I pay for:

£27.70 per month....

£10.0 for my Service Provider (TalkTalk) which supplies my Broadband service, including free evening and weekend telephone calls.
£17.70 for British Telecom for the long length of copper wire Telephone Land Line, stretching vast distances from pole to pole, swinging gently in the breeze, down which all my incoming and outgoing data travels.

Its Upload Speeds that I suffer...but only when I want to upload my motorcycle Video Files to show to my Sim V, etc, family and friends..... ....!

I can never figure out why there is such a vast difference between Download and Upload speeds, when it all the data goes up and down the same length of copper wire....pole to pole..... ...!

Some things always remain a total mystery to me....

Sex and Internet Speeds.... ...!

Paul....(What is SEX?).... :o ...!

(Answers, instructions, and photo's in a plain brown envelope).... ;) ...!

Remember those days when we didn't know anything at all and relied on the Newspapers and the BBC? I suppose what we get today makes our heads as big as Dan Dare aliens today. Our thirst for information has other even less desirable spin-offs. It's good to be able to forget all that and ride the highways and byways in relative peace. Is it dangerous to pick blackberries and (crab) apples over there?

Picking Blackberries and Crab Apples in England is OK, Log.
Nose Picking in public has only recently been allowed by law.
Arse Scratching has always been a popular pastime in the confines of one's home.

Uploading Stuff:
I had a peek at Tencent QQ, but it seems to me rather like Facebook for Youngsters..... ....>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99pEN2BuA_g

...when all I want is a location and space to simply upload my videos and provide a link!

I really don't want to chat to a zillion other QQ users on-line!.... :o .... ...!
Facebook is a definite NO-No for me!

I have had an account at You-Tube for some time now (unused), so if I can get over the problem of the long time it takes to Upload videos, I will experiment with You-Tube again to see how big (or small) my files must be!

Its just the first step in getting it to work successfully.....
....You-Tube can get a little bit complicated for first-time users...and Older Folks!.... ...!

The weather in England is getting warmer, so lots of rides, and lots of videos, is on the cards!.... ....!

QQ international is a little more generous with its space. I get 20MB download speed and 6mb upload speed on my internet site here for the equivalent of 3 pounds per month. But no UTube which can make looking at the forums here quite puzzling at times. Have not been able to ride a bike for years now, I tried a scooter here but hated it, leg position feels all wrong, general lack of 'umph' when you need it. I would have been better off on a pushbike.

BLIMEY!.... :o ...!

20Mb/s download speed....
...and 6Mb/s upload speed... ... ...(double shock!).

For £3 per Month...

...would be like Heaven in a velvet-lined bucket!

I get 0.6 Mb/s in my plastic bucket...with a hole in it!.... ....!

Life is too short for uploading stuff in England!... ...!

Sunday 15th May!

Had a wonderful ride-out for a meet-up with all the bikers at Abergavenny!
The warm, sunny day brought zillions of them out to fill up the whole 'Bus park!....>>>

I took some cheese some pickle sandwiches with me (free), and had a nice cup of tea (milk and two sugars) at the 'Bus Café (£1.20).

Had a wander around all the 2-wheeled, and occasional 3-wheeled trikes, machinery, and a chatted with some of the riders.

Then off down the dual carriageway (freeway) to Monmouth, then the climb up to the Royal Forest of Dean, adorned with a carpet of bluebells at this time of year, to Coleford and Cinderford to visit some of my family, and then back home again!

The whole journey covered 130 miles, and I videoed the whole of my journey with my SJ Cam 4000 (12.3GB of video!). Far too large to upload and publish.!
I will have to edit it down to smaller chunks!... :D ...!

The curse of recorded wind noise on video recordings!
I had a peek at You-Tube to find a possible cure, by covering the camera with bits of dish-washing foam, furry stuff, etc...nothing works!
My camera is attached to the side of my open face helmet, and I figured out, in bed last night, as I do, that stuffing wind-damping stuff in and around the camera will not cure the problem.
What 'appens: The wind blows all around my helmet. That sound then travels along the camera mounts, to the outer body of the camera. It is then transferred to the inner camera body and thence to the tiny microphone soldered to the printed circuit board deep inside the camera!
All this noise is transferred mechanically through all the various mounts and the body of the camera, so no amount of stuffing stuff around the camera wont cure the problem!
The only cure is to use an external microphone with lots of furry stuff surrounding it (like proper outside sound recorder blokes use) plugged in to the camera..... ;) ...!
Its the Microphone which requires sound damping...(with furry stuff)...not the body of the camera!!

I still need to record voice-over on the video whilst I travel the road!

So...there you go...got to figure a way to scrap the internal microphone (unsolder), and plug in a quality external microphone to replace it.
Hot Solder and burnt fingers on the menu!... ...!

Paul...enjoying all the sunshine rides!..... ...!

...as promised....

A short part of my 130-mile videoed motorcycle ride last Sunday 15th of May...>>>>

https://www.dropbox.com/s/p332i79p3y49m ... 1.mp4?dl=0

Hereford to Abergavenny to meet up with all the bikers, and then on to visit some of my family!
Abergavenny to Monmouth dual carriageway, and up through the Forest of Dean to Kevin's.
Kevin's to Ian's (this short video).
Ian's to Nigel's.
Nigel's back to Hereford again.

12GB Video in total!

A fantastic trip on a lovely sunny day!

More trips .......and video's to come...be very afraid!

Looks like a fun met Paul. My local get together is on a Wednesday evening. It is a very well know venue here near Gutersloh called the Alte Mühle. It attracts around 500 to 1000 bikes every week depending on the weather. You get a cracking collection of bikes and people. From old east German two strokes to three wheelers, rat bikes to the latest technology. I will get some pictures then next time I go.
