Gauges Not Working

Postby dreamer_toons » Wed Mar 02, 2016 9:22 pm

Hi all,

Please pardon me if this question has been raised before.

I was flying with the A350 which was downloaded earlier and discovered that the gauges on the VC are not working. This is the downloaded A350 http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1 ... p&x=15&y=7

These gauges appeared but I can't make click or adjust my flight inputs. I have to switch to 2D to make changes and revert to the VC view again.

Your advice to this issue is much appreciated.

I could be wrong but I do not think that the gauges of any VC will function as this is a Virtual Cockpit. Which to me means basically a picture of the cockpit
I never tried to operate any gauge in any VC just for that reason. If I am wrong I am sure someone will point that out.

Hi,

Some VC have clickable gauges and some not. In this case the gauges are visible and work but you can't click them (eg: autopilot, lights, etc).
The origin of this problem comes from the xxxx.mdl file programmed by the author. That means that it can't be fixed by the user.

That is good to know as I stated I always thought of a VC as just a picture of the actual cockpit. I knew that some VC have gauges that would move but never tried to use them as you would in the 2D version .Personally I prefer the 2D cockpit

I agree with you. Vc are pictures in my opinion. I prefer 2D panels simply because all gauges are working and it's easier to fly the aircraft. :)

Cheers

To clarify: all the FSX default aircraft have clickable gauges in the VC. This depends on the gauges as the VC model is completely separate from the external aircraft model. Check out the Model folder of any FSX default aircraft which will have 2 MDL files, exterior & interior. On native FSX models created with the FSX SDK like this A350 it's possible to use (merge) the VC of an FSX default aircraft, in this case the default Airbus_A321. This involves a basic knowledge of FS aircraft structure & tweaking CFG files. I haven't done it for a while but managed it after a bit of fiddling. Now all the mousable gauges work as on the default aircraft

Very very rarely if ever have I experienced a VC without clickable and fully working gauges - moveable throttles, trim, switches etc. Usually the overhead and side panels may be images but sometimes these also have clickable switches in some areas.

I test and use 1000's of addons uploaded to make sure they are OK - quality control.

In fact not since the days of FS2002 aircraft have I seen non working gauges in a VC.

Times have moved on and those of you who don't know it should know that!

Thanks Pete and Hagar for setting me straight. As I stated I never tried to use any of the gauges in any VC of any aircraft I have in my fleet Now that I know perhaps I will try using some of them.

Unfortunately this still doesn't answer the original question.

The same gauges are used on the 3rd party VC included with the A350 as on the default VC I merged with it. I presume it must have something to do with the VC MDL but I don't have the knowledge to explain it.

I downloaded the aircraft and tried it out. Gauges were all clickable on the VC thought the AP was a bit temperamental and the battery switch is in a different position on the overhead panel. After years of building my own panels, started with FS98, I have found that even VCs can be tweaked a bit with patience and a little cajun magic.

Thanks for the enlightenment.

1 thing I notice is the gauges work at times and become unresponsive after a while.

Anyway, I just switch to 2D to adjust flight inputs when the gauges don't work; not really a real hassle.

I nave noticed that the VC auto pilot controls in all the Project Opensky Boeing 777 have always had some type of blink rate going on and it was difficult at best to change settings on the auto pilot. I never really had too much trouble on any of the Airbus's except for bouncing through turbulence trying to keep the mouse hovering over those dials. You can not change the Airbus auto pilot settings over the numbers on any Airbus that I am aware of, you have to use the dials.
The dials are push button to turn on and you have to be close to center, in some cases REAL close to center to click on them to turn them on.
I fly mostly Boeing, I did have a really sweet freeware A320 that was limited time download and it was removed. I lost the HD it was stored on and the HD it was installed on, I've been bummed out on all other Airbus planes after that.
