Help with Wildlife + V2

Postby blackgranada77 » Fri Feb 12, 2016 9:42 pm

Need help with installation of Wildlife+V2. Downloaded and installed SimObjects/Animals into the SimObjects/Animals folder then installed Wildlife + into main FSX folder. Wildlife+ will start but I am unable to get animals to show. Know I screwed up somewhere. The install says something about putting Wildlife into .exe.xml How do I find this. Any help is appreciated. Still learning about how things work. Thanks............ :?:

Hi I haven't tried this yet but I did see there is quite a comprehensive document in the file - did you read this? It's sometimes important to read theses docs with care when it comes to files like this.

I will download it and see if it works for me, which operating system & FSXor P3D? Having read the comprehensive pdf file the locations of the xml file are In
C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D\
C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\, look for an exe.xml file and is only used if you want it to start automatically by adding it to your existing xml.

If you have never installed any add ons, then you may not have an exe.xml file. If you don't have
one, open Notepad, and paste all of the text below into it, then save it as exe.xml.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
<Descr>Launch</Descr>
<Filename>exe.xml</Filename>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
<Launch.Addon>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Name>P3D Native 3D</Name>
<Path> C:\Users\Rich\Documents\Prepar3D v2 Files\Wildlife+\Wildlife+.exe</Path>
<CommandLine></CommandLine>
<NewConsole>True</NewConsole>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>
If you already have an exe.xml file, open it with Notepad and add just the bit in bold blue above.
It should be added above the </SimBase.Document> line in your file.
Ensure the <Path> line points to the location where you installed the Wildlife+

I will install later and let you know how I get on Dave.

Thanks for your replies. Did read the instructions file and found out I don't have a exe. xml cause I don't have any add-ons. Didn't realize that the add-on They were talking about was at the top of the sim while running FSX. After starting FSX then clicking on the alt key I saw what they meant by add-on. Like I said, still learning how things work in this sim. Now have all knds of critters running and flying around. Even have sheep crossing my runway! Need to fix that. Thanks again.

Everything working fine now. Must start Wildlife manually. No big deal. Start FSX and click on add-on to start animals and birds.
