Good evening everyone... <<u

Hope I'm posting this in the correct forum :?:

RE: My Electronic Gizmo

I was informed today by someone I did not even know when browsing through the local Best Buy Store...much like Future Shop.

At night or when I finish a simulated flight but getting ready to shut down this electronic gizmo I do the following:

Windows 10

-Clear Browsing History back to the beginning of time
-Run "C" Cleaner twice
-Run Disk Clean Up twice

Then I shut down.

Have been doing this for years.

I also Run Defender at least once a week although I think Windows 10 is supposed to do that automatically.

This person at the store told me I was probably hurting my computer by doing this every day at shutdown...to me it is like Preventative Maintenance...but not being an electronic genius what do I know :?:

Comments and Advice would be most welcome... ;)
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

There is no harm in clearing up the list of browsing history. Its a very simple task for any computer.
C-Cleaner simply tidys up cookies etc that are obsolete and also cleans up items that may have been added during browsing. Another simple process.
Running disc cleanup is optional and its most important contribution is the deletion of temporary internet files that can pile up over time and use up some hdd space.

All of these things are just good housekeeping and they keep your computer uncluttered by all kinds of useless files. As far as I know they do not "push" or stress your computer in any way so I don't see why the BestBuy person would say it may "harm" your computer.
In my very humble opinion , if you like a tidy computer and you want to use these tools, great.
The only one that I would not do every day is the Disc Cleanup. I might do that one once a week or so or even once per month. Its all your call as far as I'm concerned.

Hey there Trucker, I agree with Flacke. All you are doing is keeping a clean machine :D I pretty much do the same with mine and have been doing so since windows 9 and have never had any problems. I also run the main drive cleaner once a week to rid myself of useless files. As far as I am concerned you are keeping a well maintained computer.

Keep smiling
Tug :)
