Pete,

My apologies for not realizing that you were talking only about SimV, when it came to FSX/FS9 Downloads. Therefore, my comment about 'the other FS sites' was not necessary.

Many of my favourite FS 2004 Aeroplanes are used on my FSX, as is most of my favourite FS 2004 Scenery.... :D ....!

My present FSX mostly looks better than my FS 2004, but its nice to know that various FS 2004 stuff is still available to use!

Paul.... :D ...!

With my fascination with all my "Old Stuff", I tried to re-install my Flight Unlimited II, (1995), this morning, on my super-dooper, Win 8.1, Cray Gaming Computer....

...no-go!.... ...!

It cant figure out what all this "DOS" stuff is all about!.... :o ..... ....!

Will try my "Pro Pilot '99" next!

Paul....Old Stuff Enthusiast!..... ....!

I'm one of the readers right now, not a user. Not because I think FS9 is a lesser sim, but because I can't get 2004 to recognize the DVD. I would like to use the cheat, but can't get one that's not corrupt. One other thing, is that all the good 'planes are only available in 9. Just like a snap of the fingers, some developer grabs what you like and makes a pay ware version for FSX and you're screwed for a free ware version in FSX. Another thing I miss is the Avidyne cockpit for the Cirrus 22 which only works in XP. Nothing to do with FS, but with the OS. Just my pet peeve. I still read the posts tho.

You do know that there are workarounds that DON'T include the No-CD "cheat". I know of at least two listed in FS2004 forums on this interwebbie thing. One is even a Microsoft solution.

P.S.
You see, Pete, there ARE still issues that need to be resolved here. Wowsers!

You might know of at least 2 answers on the web, but I have tried them all and get only smart answers that tell me nothing. I used to have a hacked file, but I can't find it any more. But if you say there's a fix from Microsoft, please be a good fellow and share it with me?

Well, the easiest and most "permanent" way of solving your problem is to go to this reputable site and find what you used to have and that I'm not going to mention since I don't know the full policy of this website concerning what you used to have but can't find anymore ..... wink .... wink.

.... :ugeek: 8-)

It's even worse than it may look, from his viewpoint.

When I used FSX, and now that I use Prepar3d, I still download FS9 aircraft.

A surprising amount of it works in both sims. :D

A better, but unanswerable, question might be "How many of those FS9 downloads are really being used in FS9"?

A more telling number might come from looking at the FS9 scenery downloads. Those I don't bother with.

The first of my "Microsoft" Flight Sims, after my Flight Unlimited II, Pro Pilot '99, Fly!, Gunship, etc.... :D ...!

I'm wondering if your FS 2000 still has those coloured squares all over the sky and the ground?

I'm going to pop into my local Game Shop today, and get myself one of those new FS 2000 Flight Sims!.... ....!

Paul...so excited.... :D ...!

P.S. in retrospect....Its generally agreed that FS 2000 was a very poor upgrade, with FS 2002 being the much improved version!... ;) ... ;) ...!

I've got crates of all my old Computer games since to 1970's weighing my house down, including all my various Flight Sims,. Its a shame that they were designed to run under DOS, and will not install on my modern operating System!.... ....!

The question about FS9 addons has been well explained by Oldairmail. Some work even better in P3D than in FSX. But you can not retrofit FSX planes to FS9.

We shoud not forget the impact of FSX-SE in the sim business.

In any case I keep my FS9 installed in a separate HDD. 90Gb in total.

The Cloud9 Phantom is a must, Pablo Diaz sky and clouds and fotoreal F4 texture:

I din't know we had it. It's the way you search for it I guess. However, I got it now and 9 is working again for me. Twice as fast as FSX and Favorite 'planes all working. Thanks to everyone. I guess I shouldn't have been shy in asking.
