I haven't had a lot of time to play in the sim the past few weeks, but after Fozzer's tip that a lot of FS9 stuff works just fine in FSX, I've been popping some of my FS9 faves into FSX to try them out.

This is Tim Conrad's CV-10T, a work of Piglet's wonderful imagination. I've always enjoyed it for short-field rough-country ops. The FS9 panel doesn"t work in FSX, so I'm using the stock King Air panel until I find or build a new one.

The aircraft has an auto-smoke effect which looks great with the Garrett turboprops. But I've never flown it in other than Day-VFR conditions. When loading up my test-hop, I inadvertently selected "dawn" instead of "day," but didn't change it, since it was just a test to see how the aircraft works. (It works great!)

I was a little startled when I cycled to the Tower View. I watched a brilliant flame streaking across the sky ahead of the sunrise. Turned out to be the smoke effect. As soon as the sun climbed high enough that it was FlightSim "Day," the flames disappeared.

It's not an FSX incompatibility. I went back to FS9 and launched under the same conditions. Same flames. I thought about disabling the smoke, but changed my mind. I figure the next night flight I do with it will have the switchboard at the FlightSim Constabulary lighting up with reports of a FlightSim UFO!
