I must say I never heard on the net of FSX Steam .. anywhere - except here.

I do wonder how they marketed themselves? But any PC based entertainment these days is a difficult one.
FSX is still the best PC flight simulator (good enough that Lockheed Martin bought it) -- maybe make it tablet orientated to move forward ... Although most folk still have PC's and a PC is still the best way to experience a home flight simulator by far.

I've got a dozen, or more, low price games on Steam, mostly very old computer games, Quake, Quake II, Duke Nukem 3D, Doom, Ultimate Doom, Chaos Engine, The Walking Dead, Borderlands 2, etc....
...including FSX, and Euro Truck....

All at bargain prices during sales!

The only reason I have not messed with FSX SE is I live out on the Navajo Reservation and I am off the grid, my internet is through satellite andif it is not stored on my computer I feel my usage would be through the roof.
I am not wanting to go through what Prepar3D is doing, I just want to fly when I want and how I want, so I stick with my FSX w/Acceleration.

Steam does not do much in the way of advertising on the web except for when you google PC based games.
I stumbled on steam several years I had a old game called DEUS EX . The CD it came on got broken during a move I now play the game on steam. I also have a train simulator that I play on steam as well and it is pretty good. But by far the best train simulator out now is called TANE (Train Z a new Era) and you can find it on steam as well.

Steam has really done a good job of restoring old games and creating new games. The best part of this is you never loose a game even if your current system dies. All you have to do is log on to steam and re download it. And if there is a update it will automatically update it.

FSX Steam can be run offline.
In the Left corner of Steam window, click "Steam", then click "Go Offline".
This remains after closing the program and switching off the PC. Nex start FSX-SE is offline. You only will need internet for updates.

IMO, yes, no problem.

When you install FSX-SE, there are two options:
1-Stand alone: Then it works as FSX boxed. All files/folders are referred as FSX.
2-Keeping your FSX boxed. In this case, some files/folders are created alongside those of FSX boxed, as FSX SE.

If you buy a Steam addon, and only have FSX boxed in your system the installer should install the files in the proper place.
Also you can redirect it to P3D (if installer allows to select the place to install it).

Hello, thanks for the tip! I just bought FSX Steam Edition for the price of a lunch. I really like it so far. Very very smooth and no issues with my settings set up to levels that I have never used before. No "out of memory" problems on long trips. Easy to use and set up and I will not have to use the old DVD's again to reload it in future [as I had to do on FSX, long and tedious].
All I want now is FTX Global Scenery addon, apparently its Steam compatible. Thanks again.

After your thumbs up, I thought that I'd buy the steam edition - nada.

That £4.00 turned into $12.50 USD when I went to buy it.

According to Google, £4.00 = $6.18 USD.


And to buy any Steam scenery or planes you need to buy FSX: SE. Fair enough.

All I wanted was to get one Steam scenery and try to move it to Prepar3d. Just an experiment.

So for $12.50, plus another $10 for the Kilimanjaro Airport (HTKJ) add-On..... No thanks, I'm not that curious.
