FSX won't install in win 10

FSX including FSX Steam version.

FSX won't install in win 10

Postby adworld » Fri Oct 02, 2015 6:17 am

I recently upgraded to Win 10.
I have since tried to install FSX Gold with absolutely no success.
The installation process runs until the very end, and I then receive the following message:
"Error 0x80040702
Description: Failed to load dll: gameuxInstallhelper. "
Can anybody help me get this sorted ?
Regards

That is odd about the only thing I can think of is to check the dvd to make sure that it is clean and free of debris and that there are no bad scratches any where as this can cause problems. I had to get another disk for one of my payware aircraft because it had gotten scratched and I was unable to install the aircraft.
I have Windows 10 and had no problems at all installing FSX Gold
I also found this link that might help

You will likely have to do three things to install (reinstall) FSX...
1) If you've installed FSX in the past, use a utility of some type (Winutilities works well) to completely remove all traces of earlier use.
2) Find and download Microsoftfixit.games and Microsoftfixitprogramsinstall/uninstall. They are Microsoft sponsored utilities to help prepare your 'puter take on FSX.
3) Find and download the utility MSKB928080. You MUST run it from the Admin level directly. It re-sets something (I really don't have an idea what it resets, but I do know it works...I've used it twice myself)

Now you should be able to install/re-install FSX. Hold your breath and go for it. I've had your problem several times, and the above always works for me...although to be fair, I used in in Win 8 and 8.1. I haven't yet had the problem in Win 10.

The MSKB928080 utility mentioned in the above link is a software reset tool that may have to be used before reinstalling FSX. This was Microsoft's way of trying to prevent copying the software.
