A lot of Canadians have Scottish roots Tug ;-) I'm half-Jock myself, and proud of it! Maybe that's why I like Canada so much...

I still don't know why the "English" don't understand this but Scotland took over the empire in 1603. You're not English, you're Scottish.

King James VI and I

James VI and I (19 June 1566 – 27 March 1625) was King of Scotland as James VI from 24 July 1567 and King of England and Ireland as James I from the union of the Scottish and English crowns on 24 March 1603 until his death. The kingdoms of Scotland and England were individual sovereign states, with their own parliaments, judiciary, and laws, though both were ruled by James in personal union ...

You know, this used to be a helluva good country. I don't understand what's gone wrong with it. - George Hanson, 1969

My mothers family were Scott's i think as her maiden name was Shorey And my Father English. My father told me that I had a relative that served on Lord Nelsons ship. He was given a burial plot in the city of Belleville Ontario for his service to the Royal Navy, so far as I know he is still there in the same plot. Some time I am there I will have to go and check it out as I have a fairly good idea where it is. Had not thought of that in a long time untill I read your post. Thanks for the reminder, got me thinking.
