Donald where's your Brolly

Postby G.K. » Tue Aug 18, 2015 9:00 am

I recently purchased the OPUS weather software and am delighted with the difference it makes to the P3D experience.

Here we have real Scottish weather.....I.E. Bad visibilty, cloudy, gloomy and probably pooring down with rain at lower levels. Spot on in my experience. Och, aye the noo. Donald where's your Brolly

GK.... ;) ....

I reckon that's the sort of weather you will always get, anywhere North of Birmingham*... ....

South of Birmingham*, its tolerable, some of the time..... ...!

I dislike any clouds containing moisture. They interfere with my enjoyment!.... ....!

Paul.... ...!

* ..the English variety... :D ...!
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

LoL

I'm not a biker but I know exactly what you mean.

In the next shot it appears to be clearing up a bit, still not bikini weather though. I've just flown over Inverness and am planning on visiting Glasgow to see if it's possible for an Englishman to go into a "Weegie" pub and come out without a broken nose.

Very nice atmosphere in those fine pictures. :D

I have two basic flying "themes".

No clouds - used when I'm trying out newly bought scenery.
REAL weather - I like flying places more than simply flying an aircraft. If I'm flying in Italy, Taiwan, or Death Valley, it fells more "real" if I'm experiencing the weather too.

Opus like ASN does more than I need, but it does it well.

There's no need to learn all it can do immediately, learn as you slowly as you like.

Much of it I still don't use.

Opus does have a way to enhance your flight sim experience by adding aircraft vibrations.

Read here for a fairly cheap way to do that - Another kick in the butt

Thanks for that OldAirmail.

Yes, there are a lot of buttons on this software, I'm not likely to use all of them. I think I'll leave the buttkicker option well alone for the foreseeable future. Your link does look interesting though, do you think the transducer would work ok if I tucked it down my trousers? ;-)

The next step for me is to get the software to run automatically when I start P3D, not quite sure how to do it yet but slowly working my way through the instructions.
