This is an very old spoof. I first saw it in 1997-98.

Now it has a dozen or more variations, all purporting to be the real story.

People like the idea of the US military being so arrogant & pigheaded as to argue with a lighthouse.

And I'm sure that there are many who want to believe that it's a real occurrence.

But think about it - a navel radar far above sea-level that can't pick out a landmass dead ahead?
