Ah, co-workers. Only two kinds, good and bad. My 23 years in the CPA firm sure turned up some stuff. The good ones left early on or were fired, the bad ones just wouldn't go away.
The firm's atmosphere, for those of us who survived, could be looked at as a "Gladiator make no friend of gladiator, for tomorrow you could be fired" workplace. Many times I came to work
only to see so-and-so's desk completely cleared out overnight. They even tried to get rid of me once ("We've changed the way we do some things around here, there might not be too much work for you soon"), I hung in there anyway, and sure enough, they realized that I, unlike others, was indispensable. "How much more time can you give us?" How's that for a change in tune.
