Postby rmb823 » Wed Jul 29, 2015 2:00 am

I'm trying to find a download of a boeing 777 that has a full cockpit for FSX, everyone I download the cockpit instruments are blackened out.

Thanks

The problem you are having is that the panels are being aliased to a aircraft that you do not have. The way you can spot this is to open the Panel folder of the aircraft you should see a file called panel.cfg. When you open that you will see a line that looks like this
[fltsim]
alias=Airbus_A321\panel
In this case the aircraft is using the panel from the Airbus_A321
If you do not have this aircraft the panel will be blank
Your choices are to either look for a panel for the aircraft or change the Alias= line to a aircraft that you have
This is a common problem with freeware people do not know how to make a proper panel fro the aircraft they have uploaded so the use a panel from another aircraft.

Sounds more like you are missing a gauge. (alias will not have a VC and I know of no recent 777 with an aliased panel)

Can you give an example of a specific 777 with the problem you refer to?

I regularly check out some of the MANY of examples of 777 with VC and have found no problem with them.

FSX Boeing 777

One I just checked out -- FSX/P3D Boeing 777-232/LR Etihad Airways

Hi pete, I downloaded the 777 plane from your link and it looks great except I have the same problem as rmb823; the glass panels are blank. I couldn’t find any “alias” reference in the panel config file and there was no separate “gauges” file in the download package. Could it be something to do with the “posky777_glassgauge” file in the panel folder? I would love to get this working as it seems to be a good model. How did you install the mod?

Sounds very much like your missing a gauge file - though a quick look and they do seem to be there and I installed this 777 in a fresh copy of FSX Acceleration (Due to a recent HDD fry up & reinstall of new HDD & all software - still ongoing) It's my only 777 so far installed and I just installed it - there is only one way to install with folders.

So I didn't already have the gauge in my gauges folder (FSX - if gauges are in the panel folder that's OK)

Have you got FSX Acceleration? If not -- SP1 & 2 installed?

I don’t have FSX acceleration but I have sp1 & 2. Would it be worth getting acceleration? It seems to be a bit expensive for 3 extra aircraft (which I don’t need) and a few missions. I only have Win XP and DX9c at the moment so perhaps that is causing problems with some mods.

I have a new computer on order which will be running Win10. The first thing I’ll do is install FSX and try it out. I suspect my current problems will pale into insignificance when I do that!

Has anyone else tried Win 10 yet?

W10 --- I run a laptop with W8 --

Lessons in life: 1 Major software new releases == == there WILL be fixes and updates.

So I will wait -- maybe 3-6 months -- updates/fixes/patches -- W10 now is still in 'late beta' -- that's how all software works -- late beta is '1st public release' :D

Meanwhile I'll be watching this -- because you won't be the only guys with this problem. Be great to crack it.

I've just installed it on my new comp with win 10 and a fresh install of FSX. Works a treat.

I love the 777; don't understand why it wasn't a default plane. This model is beutiful though.

Thanks to all for your replies,

Check this and see if this is what you might have missed doing when you installed the plane.

That looks like the default VC from FS9.

The first time I flew the MSFS default 777 was in my uncle's copy of FS2000. I absolutely fell in love with it as well. I have no idea why they removed it after FS2004. Perhaps they just needed to make room somewhere. FSX, after all, is quite a big game in terms of required memory.
