Video uploading nightmares....

Postby Fozzer » Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:20 am

Just in the process of uploading one of my yesterday's Motorbiking Trip Videos to "Dropbox"....

A 2GB video file...estimated completion time nine hours!....(On a really good day)....Sometimes it takes DAYS!... ...!

How folks manage to regularly upload their video files to You-Tube beats me!.... ...!

I gave up trying to upload to You-Tube long ago...not only the complication involved, but also there's not enough time left in my life waiting for it to end!... ...!

I can only surmise that You-Tube enthusiasts must all have high-speed, expensive, optical fibre connections!... ...!

...or some other magical means to shorten the upload time!

"Downloading": No problemo!...."Uploading" is my curse!... :shifty: ...!

Paul...Copper wire phone-line, ADSL, 0.6 mb/s Internet connection.... :? ...!
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

Buy a memory stick large enough to hold your videos. Load it up, and give it to one of your kids or grand kids. Done.

Over here ADSL is considered cruel and unusual punishment.

Cruel and Unusual Punishment - a phrase describing punishment that is considered unacceptable due to the suffering, pain, or humiliation it inflicts on the person subjected to it.

..... .... .... ....!

Its funny you should mention that, 'cos when I look at at the many, massive, You-Tube videos, just about every one of them are uploaded by you Blokes living in the You-Ess-of-Ay.
You lot must have some magical way of connecting to High-speed Internet, that we don't get over here!

We get "British Telecom", BT, with their copper telephone lines, for which we pay loadsa money every month to get the Internet delivered, very slowly, to our humble abodes!
£15 Per month (plus £8 per month Service Providers cost).

Its just a little bit faster now, than the 2-Hour Dial-up that I use to get in the 1990's.... ...!

I watch the lights flashing on my Router that indicates the painfully slow Bit-rate that that my Video is Uploading at....

....as Captain Oats said...."I may be some time".... :( ...!

So...what speeds do you Blokes "Upload" at...(and Download)....and at what cost?

My Download speed is acceptable, (up to 7.3 Mb/s); its the Upload speed that I suffer; (0.32 Mb/s!)

Paul.....a little "Bit" slow at the moment.... :violin: ....!

Thinking of getting the internet delivered by Carrier Pigeon.... ....!
