Just lipping off for fun

Postby stephan » Wed Jul 22, 2015 9:38 am

Wow...simming is almost like real life! LOL...
It took me 3 years to get promoted to corporal in the Marine Corps, and here in Simviation,I am still only 2nd Lt.,hahaha.
Thinking it may have to do with me being a person asking for help more often than being able to help.
After all,in the USMC,you didnt get promoted unless you were noticed and noticed in a positive way.
( Just felt like BS'ing here for a few,hahaha.)
Happy simming to all Simviation patriots.

I have gotten pretty far but as you can see I have been around for awhile. Once you get familiar with FS you might find your self helping like myself and Paul do the more posts you make the higher you go.
Like Paul I have been flying one version or another of FS since 1975 or so Man where has the time gone.
I enjoy helping out where I can and even today learn something that I did not know. Another reason to log in here and read the posts you never know what you can learn from here.
Another good experience is to join a Virtual airline that can be a real joy but I have to admit after a while I grow tired of all the hoops you have to jump through. Just make sure you check out the VA before you sign up. Some involve you having to take a test in order to fly the jets and the more complicated aircraft. it is almost like having to take a real pilots test but I think some of them go to far with that.
I flew with Delta Airlines VA and they expected you to know thrust ratios and all of that technical stuff in order to go form prop to jet. I felt like I was taking a real pilots exam and it was a little much if you ask me. But I have Hundreds of hours flying for one VA or another I made it all the way to chief pilot in one VA I had over 800 hours with them.

When it comes to flying with other Folks, I have always enjoyed our Multiplayer sessions with FS 2002 and FS 2004 + (FS Navigator), and FSX, (and even CFS 2!)

No complicated Virtual Airline rules to suffer, just lots of fun getting together with our Chums and doing what we fancy in FS Host Multiplayer... ...!

Air-shows, fly-ins, and simple tours of the glorious countryside!

...even with Dial-up, 2-hour, Internet connections!... ...!

Very popular in the early days of the Flight Sim, but made slightly more difficult with the introduction of Gamespy in FSX.

...but even this can be overcome with FS Host... ;) ...!

I don't have problems with Flight Simulator nowadays.....

...I simply pick things that work without problems....sorted!.... :D ...!

In response to Col. Fozzers comment,Yep..haha.. I have long hair too. 60+ years old,and hair down past my shoulders and a beard of white to my solar plexus. Still keeping the biker image going here. But the hair has slid from the top of my head,to only the back and sides, hehehe. Need to apply anti-skid I guess. Did my military time also,WAY back in the day,..the Marines. Miss it big time too.
I'd LOVE to give my hand a try at community flying, but my sim computer is in the basement, and the net computer is upstairs. A wireless is the answer, but an expense I dont want to afford yet.Maybe one day.
Simming since the mid 70's??? I bet the computer you used was a major fortune. If I remember correctly,an IBM 8088 ran SEVERAL thousand dollars.. and the RAM was almost non-existent . Had a couple of those,an old VIC20,Commodore 64 and the Commodore 128 with a 512 expansion pack. THAT's a WHOPPING 512 kb ram!!! LOL. The cell phones of now have MANY times more the ram than the computers I mentioned, but still, they were fun.Never gamed on them.Just did my own programming ( making breachless security programs to keep data secure from imagined prying eyes, hahaha. ) Any hoo... Col. Fozzer...imagine this...I rode with the Vietnam Vets m/c here in the states. One of the largest 3 piece patch clubs in the world besides HA and a few other outlaw clubs. We had generals,colonels,...vets of all branches of the military and of all ranks. Members of Rangers,Green Berets,LRRPs,Marine Recon, Phoenix,Delta,Omega,Sigma,CCN,CCC,CCCS (SOG)... you name it,we had them in our ranks. It was pretty funny to get introduced to a long haired, bearded scooter tramp fro another state chapter and find out he was a General, hahaha! Miss the club terribly. Had to drop my patch when I blew my bike up in a big way and didnt have the funds to repair it. No bike,no club. VNV m/c isnt a sidewalk commando club. Maybe one day I'll get lucky and rin into another Harley for a good deal. But to find one to fit my budget would be like finding hen's teeth.
