MONUMENTAL STUPIDIT!Y

The interesting part

Well, there are lots of interesting parts to this story, but I'll keep it EXTREMLY brief.

Launch of the Dawn space probe, September 27, 2007

How an Ion Drive Helped NASA's Dawn Probe Visit Dwarf Planet Ceres

Ion Drive - COOL :D

(You'd have to be a real classroom dweeb to find this one interesting, but it really is a cool type of propulsion.

STUPIDITY

There is a bright spot on Ceres

NASA & the Jet Propulsion Laboratory hasn't got a clue. ???

They've asked all the janitors, who, likewise, are clueless.

Offal Ballot - Click here -> Now they need your VOTE!

Your uninformed guess is badly needed, so please, PLEASE, help NASA and the JPL figure out what that shiny thing is.

You were warned not to click on it weren't you?

I figure that this is a good place to comment on some of the newest flight sim members.

It seems to me that many of the newbies become SimViation members for the sole purpose of having a problem solved for them.

And then they're gone.

Has that always been the case, and I just never noticed?

Me? I'm pretty much a SimV newbie member my self.

But when I run into a problem, I'll try to find the solution before asking for help.

That seems to be a totally foreign concept to many.

I think that I mentioned this before, but it's relative to this post.

Ten or fifteen years ago, on a juvenile website, there was a discussion about the 1997 movie Titanic.

The discussion, which lasted more than a few weeks, was about whether or not the Titanic sinking was a true story, or not.

I don't believe that there was a consensus as to the Titanic's' sinking being factual, or just a made up story.

The Point? They were on the internet, but not using the internet.

All too often the younger generation wants everything given to them. They won't even try to find a solution.

If it's wrong to encourage people to grow up, then I guess that I'm going to hell.

Give a man a solution and he will fly only as far as the next problem.

Teach a man how to help himself, and his whole life will open up before him.

Yesterday I saw one of these bumper stickers on a car parked next to mine.

Image

The sentiment is, of course, a hopeful one. But it seems to be one of those ever upward struggles.

It also reminds me of those people that believe in using "natural remedies" to treat appendicitis in their children, even though the evidence shows that death is far more likely.

The "coexist" tag is also popular with Bono of U2, who, as far as I know, is also a human rights activist.

Image Image

To "coexist", you need all sides to give it a try. Unilateralism in this case is synonymous with Russian roulette.

So are people like Bono, and other human rights activist, totally unaware of what's going on in the world? Probably.

But let's put it another way; Are they stupid?

Yes.

Some of us have "old Timers" moments thatmake us seem stupid when in fact it's a mere memory problem. happened to me during a crucial exam once. I folded my arms and wrote on the paper "I just forget!" Didn't pass the exam but got me a 2nd chance. Maybe it's like that for some here at Sim V. They, or we as it may be just simply forget. It's not an exam, but we have all sorts here that can help restore the memory cells. Sometimes it's a serious desire to help, sometimes it's with a pinch of sarcastic humor. All is appreciated, but sometimes, just sometimes, someone forgets to get back and say thanks. Sometimes they even forget their password heaven forbid, and sometimes it's as you said, it's to solve a problem peculiar to them and poof they're gone. :violin: (Logjam's words of wisdom)

Co-exist?

Wot a larf!... ...!

From my experience, I doubt that anyone, or anything, was designed to co-exist together...

...which is why we often eat each other... :o ...!

No matter how hard I try, I find that its impossible for me to co-exist comfortably alongside; Traffic Wardens, Law Enforcement Officers, Double Glazing Salesmen, Tele-sales callers, pedestrian controlled traffic lights, pot-holes in the road, other people's animals,....and most other people and "things".... ;) ...!

Do not disturb!... ...!

HAY Y'ALL, WATCH THIS!!!

Sorry to be so crass, but there are too many really, really stupid people in this world for me to care all that much.

Man shoots off firework from top of his head, dies instantly

Staples, 22, of Calais, a small city on the Canadian border, placed a reloadable fireworks mortar tube on his head and told his friends he was going to light it.

Those mortar tubes are about 4" (10 cm), or more, in diameter, and are the one that shoot up those large star burst shells.

I'm very sure that when the charge went off, he didn't know it.

Any pity should be for the friends & family.

What this guy achieved is worthy of great public praise.

PS - The news reports really should focus on the great achievement, and leave out the very minor negative aspect. :shifty:

The world changing - ALCOHO-LOCK presented by KOOWHO!

I have to assume that this (proposed) product is for drunk drivers who have lost their driving license (for DUI), and are now forced to use a bike.

If they drink too much, not only will it call their wives (or significant other), but it will not unlock.

The unfortunate drunk will now have to pass out by the bike, or hope that their significant other will pick up both the drunk & the bike.

Well......

Maybe not.

BUT! I could see tens of thousands of university fraternity kids getting this device in a wave of civic responsibility.

So here's the deal - You ride your bike to a party knowing that you'll be drinking.

You lock your bike, knowing that you'll be drinking, with the ALCOHO-LOCK so that in the event that you get drunk you'll be safer not riding.

Yeah. I can see that happening, A LOT. :liar:

Breathalyzer bike lock stops drunken cyclists in their tracks

BTW -It's only going to cost between US$240 - $320.
. . . . . (Plus whatever booze you'll need to test the lock with)

An Aircraft Mechanic only needs two tools, Duct Tape and WD40.
If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and it's supposed to - use the WD40.
