I'm leaving Englands green and pleasant lands and heading for foreign climes.
As I fly across the English Channel in this shot we can still see the lights from Lydd Airport, we can also see Dungeness Point. This headland is entirely made up of shingle and as such isn't particularly stable, rising sea levels and longshore drift are taking their toll as the whole headland tries to move along the coast in an easterly direction. The western edge of Dungeness is constantly battered, large trucks and diggers constantly move shingle from the eastern edge and dump it on the opposite side to combat the erosion. Perched on the western beach there is a Nuclear Power station.........who's idea was that? doh.
The locals have been and are revolting
for several reasons:
They protested when the power station was built.
They protested when the power station was to be decommissioned.
They protested about all the trucks moving shingle around.
They also get a bit unruly when the Pub kicks out (Hearsay)
