FSX accelleration pack questions

hi all! i'm thinking about buying the acceleration pack.. but how does it work exactly? i mean, it's an expansion so i can run it with fsx steam edition? or i need the default FSX? it's not very clear.. thanks all

Acceleratioin is an extension to the standard FSX. I doubt, you can use it with FSX Steam Edition. FSX SE is an updated FSX. So if you try to patch it with an older update of FSX you will get a mess.

The Steam Edition is an update of FSX. It' doesn't need many years old updates of FSX. FSX SE is updated automaticly via Steam.

yes but to install ground service x i must have acceleration pack or sp1 and sp2.. so there is no way to have it without buying the mincrosoft fsx not SE right?

FSX Steam Edition should be on the level of SP2 oder Acceleration. However, the compatibility to GSX is not sure. I just checked on the fsdt website, what they write. What I found looks like they are working on it, to make it compatible.

But you must not mix FSX with FSX:SE. This is no longer the same program.

Officialy FSDT still says GSX is an addon for FSX/P3D. But you can easily download GSX and test it before you buy it, see here http://www.fsdreamteam.com/products_gsx.html

After reading this, GSX should run with FSX:SE. It's not clear, why this user of FSX:SE had a crash. Since you can test GSX before buying, I'd give it a try.

Just to be clear, FSX and FSX SE are two different simuations and are not compatible. I believe the only way you can join FSX and FSX SE is via vatsim. There is a box edition of FSX and an expansion pack called acceleration. For FSX STEAM it already includes acceleration so there is no need for SP2. Also with FSX+acceleration you'll have to uninstall SP2 as acceleration is an update that includes SP2. You will get an error if you happen to try to install acceleration over SP2 and possibly cause corruption. It will be hard to find acceleration by itself as fsx+acceleration come together has a two part set. Hope this clarifies.
