I've Finally Lost My Virginity!! :-P

Postby SpaceHippy1975 » Sat Apr 25, 2015 4:30 pm

Hi All.

After many, many hours, over many years flying in the vitual world of aircraft simulation, Being 40 years of age & never taken a commercial flight here or abroad, I have finally had my very first chance to take a flight in an aircraft with a old friend's father who had qualified on Ultralights. So as a 40th birthday present they gave me a flight in an Ikarus C42 Ultralight.

We flew out of Blackbushe (EGLK) & took an hours flight with good visabilty. Our flight took us over Newbury, the Downton Abbey home, Basingstoke, Greenham Common (skirting Aldermaston!) Finally followed the M4 along past Reading & then back to Blackbushe.

I must admit it took about 10 minutes to settle into the experience as it was a little bumpy at times but I did really get into it! Although I am totally deaf I was just able hear the pilot's voice but just barely air traffic control's. Turning my hearing aid off made things easier to make out for some reason!

Fingers crossed on going up again in the future!

Keith.

Good for you!

Well done!

A wonderful experience being taken up in a light aircraft, never to be forgotten!

My favourite was taking the controls of the local aero club's Cessna 152 trainer for my 70th birthday (11 years ago), in no 1 seat, for an hours flight around the Herefordshire countryside.
Cost: £100 for a one hour flight....worth every Penny!

Congratulations

Until the company that I worked for started to show all of the signs of shutting us down, I had been hoping to start lessons for a recreational pilot's license.

Oh well, that's life. :(

That is just totally far out! Cheers and congrats, and Happy Future Flying Trails. Nice picts, too.

Way back in like maybe '64, right after my friend got his solo license, he took us up, one at a time, in his fathers small, cloth covered whatever. That was my first time flying. Scares the hell outta ya when those wheels leave the ground if you've never flown before, I'd say. He was a bit of a show off, tho, roller coasters way up are not the best after lunch. I was OK, just got dizzy, but another friend showed his lunch during his flight. Well, it still was fun, we got to see our neighborhood like the birds do.

Keep flying, it sure beats driving.

An Aircraft Mechanic only needs two tools, Duct Tape and WD40.
If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and it's supposed to - use the WD40.
