Sunset in the Italian Alps

Postby OldAirmail » Sun Mar 29, 2015 10:17 am

I haven't visited the Alps in years. In standard FSX it was just ....blah.

It was so unimpressive that even after Orbx FTX Global, I didn't bother to go back.

NOW, it is worth flying in the alps.

I think that the key is in the Orbx European landclass. BIG difference!

Anyway -

Nice panoramic shot :)
OrbX sure makes things better, but I still find the "random" placement of snow/rock textures to dirsupt the overall feeling of majestic mountains.
A good mesh with the alternative lclookup.bgl in FSX were doing a much better work in my opinion, for the global rendering of the mountains. But I feat this won't work anymore in P3D.
But as long as you don't see these marshmallow white default mountains anymore, you're fine ;)

Thanks, Daube.

That shot is from a dual monitor setup.

I actually have three monitors, but if I were to show a triple screen shot it would go from;

this dual screen

to this triple screen

And while that desktop looks pretty good, the actual FSX/P3d screen shot, posted on SimViation, would be lacking in too much detail.

The ease of using Prepar3d on multiple screens is amazing. Far, far better than trying to do the same thing with FSX.

And when you have flight instruments, such as the GPS, on other screens Prepar3d remembers where (which monitor) it was placed when you start it up again.

This is something that you just don't see mentioned amid all of the complaints by people who don't seem to have a clue about how to even start up their computer.
