That depends on the computer. There is a minimum requirement but this is really the least of what you really need.
FSX is both a CPU and GPU hungry program. If your system is a older system using only 2 gigs of ram then you are going to have issues with FSX. You can get it to run but you are going to have to tweak it good. You would be better off trying FS2009 it is not as demanding as FSX.
I would not even attempt to run FSX on a system that had only 2 gigs of ram on it. Even with 4 gigs of ram you will have to tweak it and turn the sliders down considerably.
If you look at my signature you will see my system specs I am able to run FSX full out with no problems. But a system like this is not cheap around $800 to $900 and this was custom built not a store bought system.

Thanks. Have a custom built CyberPower just for FSX. Using Intel 3570k oc 10% , Seagate Barracuda 2TB hard drive ,16gigs of Corsair XMS 1866mhz ddr3 ram , AMD RADEON 7870 2gb ddr5 gpu, Gigabyte GA-Z77-HD3 INTEL Z77 CROSSFIRE MOBO. Maximum cooling fans and liquid cooling for cpu, Xtremegear 800w psu. Windows 7-pro 64 bit. Can get 50-60 fps with no jumping with max settings. Was just wondering if unchecking the scenery library items might increase the performance some what.

have you done any tweaks to the cfg file ?
that machine should run fsx well.
whats your fps average ?

Have not messed with cfg. file. Not a computer wiz so don't like to fool around with too many settings. Just fly. FPS=45 avg. System runs around 35*C under full load. Have never seen it above 40. Using CPUID to monitor temps.

If your Flights run SMOOTHLY you have nothing to worry about!

There is no point in running at high Frame Rates. Anything above 25 FPS is smooth. The rest is wasted effort, so lock your Frame Rate to 25 FPS!

20-30 with high detail and addons is doing good

but to answer your question,
dissableing any scenery will raise your FPS some

Add on scenery is more detailed than stock, more details the harder your system has to work. Depending on how much detail added to how much more youe system will have to work.

I agree lock your frame rates at 25 or 30 at best. One other thing you can do to help rates is to turn down the AI traffic. I turn the settings for ships and ferries completely down to 0 and turn down airport vesicles down to about 1/4 or so. I turn aircraft AI down to just under 50%. You can also change the cloud draw distance down.
As for scenery most of the default scenery is what I call low to medium detail scenery. As states it is the addon scenery that can really hit your frame rates. Things like MEGGA SCENERY and other high detailed scenery are real frame rate eaters. The other thing that will help out is to turn down the slider for autogen scenery.
Do not be afraid to adjust your setting in your FSX cfg file Just remember one thing BACKUP your file before you make any changes to it.
