Here are some pictures of the continued simulated flight over the State of Alaska in the MU2...

Stars did not show as well as I thought they would... :think:

Hardest thing I backed up was a small grain wagon...dang they were touchy...

Backed up a Twin Otter a couple of times...never got checked out in the Twin Otter...but what an exceptional aeroplane...no wonder anyone who flies them do not want to go on to something else... ;)

I downloaded the MU-2 Marquise the other day. I am really enjoying it and use it a lot for my Sim-Trips. Its very fast, and the cockpit it terrific. I am also amazed at how short I can land it. The MU-2 has a small wing with very high wing-loading, yet you can approach at low speeds and drop the airplane onto a short airstrip and bring it to a stop. Thanks for bringing this airplane to my attention.

A "near jet" is how I like to describe it. Its no run-of-the-mill turboprop, that's for sure. The Marquise (long body) has the same size cabin as a KA200, and cruises at 60+kts faster on 3/4 the fuel. And where a comparable aged KA200 is $500,000+, an you can buy MU-2's all day for half that, with low time powerplants and fresh annual.

While I was a student pilot I worked at KMYF for many years doing Line Service. We had a beautiful Marquise!. The owner bought it South America, flew it home and had it totally refurbished inside and out. It was SO nice when it was finished! What a pain to fuel! If you forgot to depressurize the main (wingtip) fuel tanks, you would get a wonderful bath of Jet-A! Then there were the other four wing tanks... get your ladder ready! Boy those Garrett Engines are LOUD!!!! Definitely a JET with Propellers, so fast! No ailerons, just roll control spoilers. It will bite you if you are not very careful! Still what a sweet machine, one of my personal favorite aircraft in real life or FSX!

They are loud on the flight line, that is true. When the power comes up, they change pitch and timbre, but not much volume.

Inside, they are quiet as a King Air though. From the ground, in flight, they are comparable to a KA. On the flight line they raise a racket though, even at idle. IIRCC, the ailerons ARE ailerons except when you put in flaps, then the whole trailing edge acts as a flap, and like you say, the spoilers on top of the wing are the downforce "aileron". That might be wrong, but that's how I remember it. I've only had three rides in MU-2's, and one in a Solitare, but I'll take any more opportunities I get. I sit in the front if I can, so I can't usually see the wings.

Hi jcj78, there are no ailerons installed in the MU-2 airplanes. You are correct about the full-span flaps. But its spoilers only for all roll control. My best friend [Captain on most GA Jets and Turboprops, Helos etc etc] used to fly one occasionally on business. I never did get a chance to fly Co-Joe for him on the MU-2 but he told me a lot about it. Most of all, he felt it was NOT for private Pilots and should be flown by highly-trained Professional Pilots for safety reasons. He also said that it should be flown by Pilots who would fly it exclusively so that they could practice engine-out procedures that were specific to the MU-2 and therefore be able to perform instantly in the event of an engine failure during a critical phase of flight [such as takeoff]. Another great friend flew them as Chief Pilot for a Corp. He flew both short-body and long-body MU-2's. One night he ditched one in a swamp with the Company President in the right seat! Airplane totally written off but due to the extreme strength of the MU-2 construction they both lived through the crash.
Right after the crash, his President ordered him to acquire a Corporate Jet for their trips. They settled on the Cessna Citation and lived happily ever after. He LOVED flying the Jet and said he could never go back to anything that had props on it.
One of these days I am going to fail an engine on the FSX Mu-2 Marquise on the takeoff and see how it handles and if I can handle it.
