Thought I´d do a small presentation of the flying museum where I work. My little heaven here on earth.
All the aircrafts in our hangar are owned by private individuals. They pay rent to have their aircrafts there. This is why all the aircrafts are in flying conditions and are reguarly flown. The hangar is open to the public on sundays for guided tours (by yours truly :p )
Another big thing we do is simulators. We build and maintain them by ourselfs. The public is welcome to book a flight in them with an instructor. So far we have three operational and two under construction. The operational ones are DC-10, Convair Metropolitan and SAAB J35. The ones under construction are SAAB J35J (nearing completion) and Airbus A320 (flyable, but lots of work until complete). The simulators are fully functional, all buttons and switches are working. We take great pride in them. Oh, and I forgot, we have a fully working Link Trainer from 1939 (I think). It´s flyable on special ocations
All in all, we are about 50 people working there. Mechanics, guides, sim instructors, builders, pilots and people working in the shop/reception/cafeteria. Most of us multi-task.
If you are ever in Sweden, be sure to come by! We usually have the ability to open up every day of the week as along as you tell us about a week in advance. Otherwise we are always there on sundays.
We are located about an hour from Stockholm. 50 minutes with express train.
