Help...

Postby Flying Trucker » Thu Mar 05, 2015 2:33 pm

Good afternoon all... ;)

Here are four pictures of a simulated aircraft I have been trying to Delete from Microsoft FSX for two days...
The wheeled and ski versions Deleted no problem at all but this float version refuses to be Deleted...

When clicking on the Simulated Aircraft Folder in the Simobjects Folder of FSX and clicking on Delete the little box comes up Administration Privilege's Required or something to that effect.

I am the Administrator and the only one that uses this electronic gizmo.

I even tried a Take Ownership Program and when clicking on that in the Simobjects Aircraft Folder on the Fleet 50K Jacobs Floatplane Folder the little box still came up and said I need Administration Privilege's and Folder Access Denied...

I downloaded this Fleet 50K Jacobs Floatplane last December so it should have nothing to do with the operating system of FSX, at least I do not think it should.
Not sure why both the wheel and ski versions deleted without a problem.

I have Deleted about twenty aircraft I no longer use and have done a Disk Defrag and Disk Clean Up with no problems.
A Virus Check is done daily and no problems.

Thanks in advance for any help and here is what the simulated Fleet looks like...

Good afternoon all... <<u

I noticed this Fleet 50K Download uses the same Throttle Console as the Ford Tri-motor even though it is a two engine aircraft as the Ford is a three engine aircraft.

I Deleted the Ford Tri-motor Folder and then tried to Delete the Fleet 50K Jacobs Floatplane Folder but alas that did not work either so reinstalled the Ford Tri-motor.

Think I need a drink and a rubber mallet... :? :o

microsoft solution perhaps?
Shut down, disconnect current, take out fusebox in the house, run around the house four times, restart and try again?

Did you install that plane with a .exe file? If so you will need to uninstall it from windows program menu.

Thanks for the replies folks but none of them worked...

I thought the F8 Safe Mode would work but it did not.

Someone told me that because it uses some of the Ford Tri-Motor such as Throttles that I would need to delete both simulated aircraft.
I deleted the Ford Tri-Motor but it did not make a difference.

Only thing left to do is Erase/Delete Microsoft FSX off this electronic gizmo and THINK about Reinstalling FSX at some later date...
Gosh Dang that seems like a lot of work!

Going to shut this thing off and give it some more thought...

dont wipe fsx yet,

I'm guessing your useing win7
f8 wont get you into safe mode, here's how;

in start menu, click run and enter msconfig then OK.
in the msconfig screen, click the BOOT tab, check the "safe boot" option.
restart pc, delete the offending files, reboot.

the next reboot will be normal, msconfig will uncheck the safe boot option for you.

if the files return, try turning off system restore and repeat the procedure.

hope this helps

Not sure why you should be having this problem Doug. One reason I can think of is that the folder is being used by another program. In this case rebooting the PC will usually do the trick.

Hmmm! Who told you that? I wouldn't expect it to make any difference at all.

That seems rather a drastic step. If you can't delete the folder I don't see what harm it's doing. Just leave it where it is. 8-)

Thanks Doug...much appreciated... <<s

I do enjoy flying the Fleet and at least I kept the float version.

There were only five of these aircraft built, underpowered is what killed it.

I just talked to one of our grandchildren and he said the same thing you just typed out.

Can not understand how are grandchildren can be smarter than me...I thought they all took after the Old Girl... :?:

Will chat later Doug...after I get released from my wee little barn down in the underground...

"I am the administrator" is one of the most common myths about computers. :D

Try this - download & run a free program called SimAccess

Image

It doesn't really "install" anything, it just removes any security settings.

Now, try and delete the files.
I've used it for over a year now with no problems.
