Anybody ever Found this Airport ???

Postby Jetranger » Thu Mar 05, 2015 11:45 pm

Wondering if anybody has ever found this "Floating Airport" yet ???

I've just spent the last 4.5 hours circling Iceland, and criss crossing it and there is NO Floating Airport at 2000'ft or below !!

he says it cruises at 2000' at about 10 mph.

I've looked and looked and even took 3 other people with me in the ???? Jet,,,, and I'm cruising at a pretty good click 380mph.

It doesn't come up on my RADAR either !!!!

nor, does it show up on the GPS 500.

and its not listed in my list of A.I. Traffic in the drop down menu in FSX .

I'm about to offer a Reward if anybody finds it and posts photos - using FSX !!!

its NOT Floating in the water either , which I hope he set it up for that, if not once it tries to land, it'll disappear, unless he rigged it properly.

I Dunno' anybody else wanna try ??

using FSX tho,,, maybe it shows in 2004 but not in my FSX anyway.

Altitude2K is a flying hotel with 3,000-foot runway.

It is held in the air with a kevlar tank Helium H3 compressed helium. Stability is ensured by the transfer of pressure between the reservoirs and reinforced by four multi-rotor, which also control the travel speed, typically 10 knots.

Altitude2K traveling at a "constant altitude of 2,000 feet".

The ship may drop to the sea for procurement, refueling or emergency, controlled neutralization of helium which temporarily made him lose its properties. The tanks then act as floats.

100% VRF flight. No navigation aid. Tested successfully with KingAir350, Baron58 and Learjet45 ""FSX"" ???? ("successfully" does not mean ... with ease!).

Landing only from the rear, as on an aircraft carrier.

It is forbidden to land at the change of maneuvers the ship. There are a dozen during the journey; see A2K_Carte.jpg file to locate them. The departure's day, the ship faces the west; it will back up slowly and then turn on itself to undertake its périble, then pay attention to his "180" if you try to land there at that time!

The nearest airport to the ship 0800Z each day (see also A2K_Carte.jpg file):

Monday BIKF - Keflavic - Near Reykjavik, capital of Iceland - Beginning of the turn.
Tuesday BINH - Hornafjordur - Big glacier area.
Wednesday BIKP - Kopaster - Iceland northern point, region of the great deltas.
Thursday BINH - Hornafjordur - In remoteness of the fjords area, approach Snaefellsjokull volcano.

SCENERY

ALTITUDE 2K vessel leaves its static position to 0800Z every Monday off Reykjavik / Keflavik. She then begins a journey of four days, anti-clockwise around the Iceland.

Howdy,

I just found it.............N64 10.23' W23 36.32' AT 2000'...........I have my scenery density settings all the way up.......
the author might have made that airport extremely dense, so if your settings are lower it will not show up.............
I just landed a C-17 and there's no where to turn around !

just got back from a 2nd actually a 3rd Tour around Iceland and twice thru Iceland and ZIPPO' , nothing Zilch !!

Took up the Boeing FA-18 to search for it, nothing !

All settings set to high, Sliders slid over to far right !

Installed correctly as per his read me file !

FSX Gold / Acceleration did say it added it to the Scenery as it updated upon loading.

Have a feeling this isn't for FSX Gold / Acceleration ??? !

His read me just said tested in FSX

Paul, what version were you running when you found it ??

I just burned up another 3,000 gallons of fuel lookin for it, in another 2.5 hours

Well it would been kinda cool maybe, but its goin' to be a gonner quite quickly !!!

thanks anyway Paul.

Since it moves, you have to look at it's schedule. I set my time and date to 0800 on a Monday, and found it just to the bay nw of Reykjavik.

This is AI Traffic installed to the SimObjects > Boats folder so make sure your TRAFFIC > Ship & ferries setting is at 20% or higher.

This shot was taken in FSX Gold + SP2 at 20% Ships & ferries traffic setting.

Jet,

Paul, what version were you running when you found it ??

I have FSX Gold SP2..........
If after you installed this scenery/object, when your FSX game loads you should see a window come up and it states "Loading data" with a typical blue slider........
If you didn't see that , then it will not work............
Also make sure that his "trafficAltitude2k.bgl" file goes into your FSX/scenery/world/scenery folder, if you just put it in your world folder, FSX can't find it............
Furthermore, if it was a AI aircraft you would see it on radar, since it's a boat ........you will not eh

Since it moves, you have to look at it's schedule. I set my time and date to 0800 on a Monday, and found it just to the bay nw of Reykjavik.

Yet another great idea............thanks B0ikat

A few years back I designed Sky City, a floating platform with 2 rwys for CFS, might be still here at Simviation, but since it might be hard to find, I added VOR and ILS navaids to help find what might be a needle in the haystack....

took me 4 times to land on it :o

then once we landed , I was tired and went to check into the Hotel, and wouldn't ya know it, they wouldn't accept Debit Cards

I'm filing a complaint !

I had to paint the float thing ma jobbers du-flunkys Bright Orange so I could find it easier

Jet

Try this for a challenge, that is after you recover...........try to find it at night.......might need a set of beacons, strobes, laser lights or all the above to assist you eh............
I might add some navaids to mine so I can crash in bad weather too............

Nice hotel too !! I rather use a credit card when traveling out of country, the bank covers me if it is stolen, debit card, you can take a big hit if stolen eh...............

Thanks for the update
