Rest & recouperation - Hawaii

Postby OldAirmail » Sat Feb 07, 2015 12:27 am

The Hawaiian islands, with Orbx, are !00% better than the default FSX.

But I prefer them the Hawaii Photoreal Scenery way.

They're not without flaws, but you really can believe that you're actually flying over the islands.

And so...

That airport is from a DL over at Avsim.

Hawaiian Airports Part 1 & Hawaiian Airports Part 2

Moving trees, people, flags, animals, waves, cars, trucks, etc.

Actually, the quality is so good that I think I might become a Hawaiian addict, the way that Paul is a SoCal diehard.

By the way - even if you don't like photo-real scenery, these airports look GREAT in Orbx scenery.

They show how much great airports can improve the flying experience.

.... ....!

Now I could be wrong, but all those trees look as though they come from the northern hemisphere, fir trees and deciduous trees, (like around me), whereas I would have expected them to be palm trees, like the are in SOCAL, where I spend most of my time cracking coconuts and licking ice cream in the company of beech-babes, in the sunshine... ;) ...!

In the Flight Sim, there always seem to be a serious shortage of palm trees, when in palm tree regions!... :o ...!

...and an accompanying lack of beech-babes... :( ...

That airport is on the island of Lanai.

And looking at a Google satellite view, you're both right, and wrong at the same time.

Image

I've mentioned elsewhere that we've all been under the impression that all of the Hawaiian islands are covered with luscious tropical plants.

Image . Image

That's what I thought, anyway.

I also thought that the beach babes would be the most attractive part. :D

Image

VERY unfortunately, I was wrong.

So what does the area around this airport look like?

I clench my fists on the yoke of my plane, as I make a fast landing that few others could ever match. Three strange men are talking to my beach babe!

I'll teach them a lesson that'll take years off their lives!

It might be better to just pretend.

There's no way that I could pronounce that.

On the other hand - if they have a better plane than the University of Hawaii, I might try. :D
