I have a stupid question.

Again..

If you change computers (motherboard, and all) you still have your Steam account with FSX? On another computer?

There is no need to install FSX-SE if your current FSX install works correctly.
FSX-SE should be seen as a convenient backup in case something happens to your original DVDs or if you have trouble with reinstalling or reactivating the original version.
Installing FSX-SE on a computer where FSX is already installed means only useless trouble.

Also, keep in mind that FSX-SE will use different registry keys in paths depending on the situation:
- if FSX is already installed on your computer, then FSX-SE will use different keys and paths (appdata and stuff, I think)
- if FSX is NOT installed on your computer, then FSX-SE will use the same keys and path as the original FSX, making the installation of addons a bit easier.

My FSX and FSX-Acceleration DVDs are fine, but I'm glad I have bought the Steam version for 5 euros. If I have to reinstall FSX one day, it will be the Steam version. I'm done with DVDs. My computer doesn't even have a DVD drive anymore.

Providing that you have made a careful note of your Steam Name and Password for logging in purposes, and they have your E-mail address, any changes that you make to your Computer/Laptop/Tablet, or your Browser, etc, Steam may detect and query it, and advise you of what to do, to enable you to log-in again successfully....it works very well, with all your details safe!

If I swap between computers, or change my Browser, they detect the change, and make sure that I am who I say I am!
...its a pretty safe system!.... :D ...!

Tip: Always log-in via your original Steam installation (Icon) rather than a Browser search of Steam!

Paul....with lots of old DOS games from the far distant past, (nostalgia!), playing through Steam!
