Multiplayer up and running.
Uses/defaults to local time for the flight for all pilots....so it could be in the middle of the night, in the middle of a bleedin' storm! (I tend to set my preferred time, and season, and weather in my Multiplayer flights using FS Host!).
Now I need to figure out how to install/load/re-route my FSX payware "FS Tramp", and freeware "Plan-G" satellite moving maps to the Steam version of FSX so that I can track other Pilots on-line.
(I already have both running on my original FSX).
..and I have got to figure out how to add some of my favourite, customised-panelled aircraft to Steam FSX (my trusty Cessna 150 Aerobat, Bensen Gyrocopter, and Beachcraft Baron 58 TC).
Gaining access to various Steam FSX files on my HDD requires a bit more head scratching compared to my MS FSX version!
It needs a lot of extra work to bring my Steam FSX up the the glories of my present original FSX!
...work in progress..occasionally!...

...and for some strange reason, the Default Bendix-King full Radio Stack (for Cessna 172, Baron 58, etc,) only appears as a blank, black window, (Shift +2).
I need the Radios for all my flights!
Any idea why the Bendix-King Radio Stack doesn't appear in Steam FSX?
(Master and Avionics switches are on).
Anyone else with the same problem?

Paul.... 8-) ...!

P.S...Plan-G Moving Sat-Nav Map seems to be working in Steam FSX (the same as the original FSX).
...or perhaps not!

Path to FSX SE is
C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam Apps\Common\FSX

There you will find all your files just like FSX, this is how I add certain items into FSX SE like aircraft I have.
Other Programs like the payware REX and Plan G, and others only some install correctly and work fine.

In the Cessna and Beech Baron the radio appears on the dash correct but does not appear when the Shift + 2 is entered, still only as a black outline, and you have not installed any other programs as of yet and this happens correct. Have you gone to
Views/Instrument Panel/Radio and still have the Black Outline.

I tried the Shift + 2 and it works here I'll dig around and see what I can find. You running XP or others Fozzer.

FoMo...

Ta for the heads-up on the Steam FSX path.....I had a fiddle around after a while and found it!

My blank Bendix-King Radio stack...very peculiar. It affects my default Cessna's and Beech Baron 58. (I haven't tried the others yet). Its blank on the panel, and when I click on the Radio Icon, and when I Shift + 2.
Everything else (gauges) shows OK on the panels.

I get lost without my Radios!.... ....!

The only "improvements" I have done to the default Steam FSX, is in the overall resolution, and scenery and effects department...everything else is standard.

I haven't added anything so far, aircraft or scenery,

My specs are in my Signature below...so everything flies along very nicely....except my bleedin' radios!... ...!

Actually...I don't know why I'm fiddling with this, 'cos my original FSX runs top-dog!.... :o ....!

You could try replacing the Bendix_King_Radio.dll a 453 kb gauge file from your original FSX gauge folder, to the gauge folder of FSX SE. Just copy and paste.
Make a back up copy of the original Bendix_King_Radio.dll in the FSX SE gauge folder 1st before replacing.

Being windows 8 you might have to copy and paste the .dll file to your desktop before copy and paste to your FSX SE gauge folder.

Its a funny old do....
...but all the Gauges in the original FSX Gauge Folder are all XXX.gau files...I have zillions of them...
...whereas all the Gauges in the FSX SE Gauge Folder are all strange XXX.dll files!... ...!
Different!

I wonder why?

I would say just copy and paste your Bendix_King_Radio.gau then, to the FSX SE gauge folder, from your FSX gauge folder. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. A gauge is a gauge whether it's a .dll, xml,.gau, and etc. all the same to FSX, it will read these files.

Leave your original Bendix_King_Radio in the FSX SE folder there and do nothing with it. Unless it wants to overwrite this gauge then make a back up of your original in the FSX SE folder.

This morning I have just grabbed every one of my zillions of Gauges which I have collected over the years from my own copy of FSX Deluxe SP2, and copied and pasted all of them into my Steam version of FSX Gauge Folder!
This means that all the add-on aircraft Folders which I then copy from my own FSX into Steam FSX, the aircraft will contain all their proper gauges...NO missing gauges!
It works!

I've now got my ever-faithful Cessna Aerobat 150, my darling little Bensen Gyrocopter, and my super-speedy Beechcraft Baron 58TC, with all their special gauges, stored in my Steam FSX now, ready for instant joyful use.... ...!

I just need my original FSX payware ORBX "FTX Global", my "Ultimate Terrain USA", and my A2A "Accu-feel Effects" incorporated into my Steam FSX now....but I don't know if that can be done easily, or legitimately?

Working fine so far!

Paul.... ...!

P.S...Its also corrected the missing "Bendix-King full radio stack" on my Steam FSX default aircraft!

Do you know what....

I woke up early this morning with a brain-storm, and immediately started to reassemble various bits and bobs from my original FSX into my Steam FSX 'cos I thought it might be a good idea.

By Tea time the same day, I suddenly asked myself, (as I do), "Why I am doing all this, when there is absolutely nothing wrong with my original FSX".

Steam FSX merely includes a Multiplayer alternative to the original FSX "Gamespy", together with lots of other annoying Pilots on-line; whereas my original FSX runs perfectly happy with "FS Host", and "FS Open" Multiplayer options, with Pilots of MY choosing.

So..after I finished my Tea, (Fried Egg and Chips), I stopped fiddling about with Steam FSX, and loaded up my trusty original FSX, and toured happily around the California countryside 'till Bed Time!

Tomorrow's brain-storm may include; "Shopping".... ...!

If it is not broke do not fix.

I am happy with my setup so I probably keep
it till it does pack up.

I suppose one of the immediate advantages of the new Steam FSX version, for a while, is for "Multiplayer" use, when Steam FSX will be in its default installation mode, with default aircraft and scenery, so that all the Multiplayer pilots will be using, and seeing, exactly the same scene and aircraft around them, without all the add-ons modifying the original FSX version over time, causing scenic confusion during Multiplayer flights, ie; default scenery v add-on scenery v photographic scenery, etc!

Complex FSX scenic add-ons always cause confusion amongst participating Multiplayer Pilots, where each one describes a different scene before them!
