One of my favorite old time aircraft.

Like an old three masted sailing ship, this is most definitely a "romance" plane.

I was just looking at this bird last night thinking about re-installing her. You just made my mind up for me. Great pictures. Please tell us - what scenery is that and what airport is that in picture 4. Thanks for the post and some beautiful screenshots.

A lot of the time I'll pick someplace at random. This was such a time.


Capt, the basic scenery is Orbx FTX: Global with FTX Global Vector.

The city is Boise, Idaho. The airport is KBOI. The runway is 28L. For the time select Dusk.

I also have Orbx Northern Rocky Mountains which includes Boise, so Boise is a bit better than normal.

The atmosphere is courtesy of OpusFSX & FSI.


What caught my eye was the dying sun lighting up the edges of the Tiger Moth.


One more for the road sky. Again - Boise.

I wonder if they have a Tiger with the Winter Canopy which we flew in Canada

Many Tiger's were taken off wheels and placed on skis with the winter canopy.

The Tiger being a Military Trainer was Instrument equipped but you flew the aircraft by the sound of the wires and even with the Winter Canopy on an aviator could still hear the sound of the wires. A good aviator could also tell if the Tiger was properly Rigged by the sound of the wires...

It is a pleasure to fly in a sim, although I have no clue what it is like in real life.

As I said before, to me this is a "romance" plane. There's just something about it that I like.

@ OldAirMail - - Thank you for the info about the airport and the scenery. I see what you mean about the setting sun lighting up the edges of the plane. I think I noticed that right away in your pics, but didn't even realize what made them look so good until you pointed it out. Great looking shots. She reminds me of some of the flying scenes in the movie "Out of Africa" with Redford and Streyp. Boy, I really buggered the spelling of her name up. I have tried some demos from Orbx, but haven't really taken the plunge yet. The scenery looks great. Thanks again.

I know that Orbx FTX Global is somewhat expensive, but it really does make a huge difference when you fly anywhere in the world.

Looking at it that way it's not really that expensive.

Fortunately, it's on sale at the moment., $55 now, regularly $83.


Another great product, also not that cheap, is Orbx - FTX: Global VECTOR, $39 now, vs. $58 normally.



Probably the worst thing that you can do is to fly over an area that you know well.

But I'm submitting these pictures so that you can easily find, and compare, how the Orbx Global products, Global & Vector, differ from FSX.
