10:29 pm Tonight is the end of summer around here. I expect the leaves will all fall with a sudden crash and it will start snowing by 10:30 pm.

I always set my internet weather temperature charts to read in Fahrenheit rather than Centigrade....

..'cos 68 degrees always seems to be very much warmer that 20 degrees....

Not sure why but many of us here in the Colony enjoy all four (4) seasons.

There is always something to do or explorer with friends and family throughout the year.

Myself, I really do not have a favourite season...

..when you are as thin-skinned, 10+Stone, aged, a weakling as I am, the Summer season of hot, sunny weather, is the only one I really enjoy!

"Winter" is a time of misery, discomfort, and additional heating expense for me, for up to nine months of the year!... ....!
(Its also the time of the year when most of we Oldies die of the cold, and Winter-related illnesses!).
...and it stops me from enjoying my Bike rides!

You just have to be prepared for what Mother Nature throws at you. Personally, there's nothing like feeling the sting of a bitter cold day, especially when snowing... the harder, the better. The air is so crisp and raw!

Goodly morning all...

I know how you feel Paul, have friends that go south for the winter, they do not like the damp winters around the Great Lakes however the farther north one goes the weather is not nearly as damp...

On those cold damp English days try installing a set of winter skis on that Thrifty 150 and find a location to do some winter flying...just might warm you up a bit...

Oh and folks, one of the nicest ways to enjoy a winter flight is in a Hot Air Balloon and believe me you really will take your winter coat off as it gets quite warm in the basket.
The land looks so neat, tidy and organized from the Hot Air Balloon and one can watch the fox track the rabbits...

Getting ready for another non-Winter here in not-so-sunny-this-year Miami. Last time it was cold here, if indeed the word "cold" can be used, according to what I've read here, was about winter 2009. Many Jan-Feb days of having to actually wear a [lightweight] jacket sometimes. Long ago, we would actually have winters, I clearly remember Dad warming up the car in the morning to take us to school, and early morning PE class where you couldn't see 10 feet in front of you, it was so foggy. We had a tough PE coach, made us dress out always unless it was really, really cold. It would take us 5 minutes of running to warm up, but by class end we were shivering again.

I have long forgotten what "cold" is like. Year by year it's warmed up. Nowadays, or maybe nowawinters, I break out the space heater only for a few days at a time.

Not-so-sunny-this-year Miami: We've had rain almost every day since 07.01. Something like only 2 clear days in July. Today, more rain, or at least a cloud over. The rains are sometimes light, sometimes inundating, with some flooding around. My area, thankfully, never floods. So this summer was basically cooler than most. And again, thankfully, no hurricanes, not even a threat.
