A Dragon at 7,000 feet, Hawaii

Not the best FSX Dragon, but the best that I can afford (free).

There is at least one good de Havilland Dragon Rapide out there, but I'm trying to save money for a new Graphics card.

that oz x web site has like a dozen more repaints for that Garwood dragon,,,,

OZx does have some pretty good stuff.

Pilot those are some good looking screenshots, looks like your current graphics card is no slouch either. And the wheel chocks add a nice bit of detail to the overall realism of the scene.

One thing. The Dragon Rapide is usually referred to as a Rapide. The Dragon is a smaller member of the family.
There are still a few airworthy examples. I saw one at Sywell Aerodrome only last week.

I assume it's Dave Garwood's model. Being a pedantic old sod it's a DH.89A Dragon Rapide, officially registered as a Rapide. http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/HistoricalMaterial/G-AKIF-1.pdf

It's not one of my favorite planes, but it was fun flying VERY slow over some of the Hawaiian Islands.

The payware version might be much more interesting.


Just looking at it makes me think of flying in one of the balsa & tissue planes I built as a kid.

Of course, back then I'd put my face as close to the aircraft as I could just to pretend that I WAS flying the plane.

So here I am doing the same thing, with my face close to the monitor.


Does time really change?

Or does our mind travel back to a happier time?

You've got the aircraft right - FSX De Havilland Dh89a Dragon Rapide Package.

As it's title does include Dragon Rapide, I feel free to shorten it to "Dragon". Poetic license, again.

Who, other than you and a VERY few others, would have bothered to click on the posting if had I used - "A Rapide At 7,000 feet"?

(I know, I know - Paul would have made a comment about my misspelling of rapid. But if I didn't make a mistake now and then, the poor fellow would have nothing to look forward to. )

Interestingly, I just ran into an updated version - De Havilland Dh89a Dragon Rapide V4 FSX / P3d at Classic British Flight Sim.
