The DH.88 Comet

Postby Hagar » Sun Sep 07, 2014 6:14 pm

I've just arrived home after a smashing show at Old Warden. The weather was just about perfect for once.
The icing on the cake was that I finally got to see the DH.88 Comet in the air, something that I was beginning to think I would never see. 8-)

It was the last display of the day, in the evening sunlight. Here's a few pics of a spirited display by the Collection's chief pilot "Dodge" Bailey who received a well-deserved standing ovation. I've been waiting a long time for this.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

I'm not advertising, but Orbx has a very nice rendition of Old Warden; works particularly well with their England. I'll have to roll the Comet out of the hangar and give it a go there. I can't promise any screenies but I'll try...

I was lucky enough to see it several times as a kid when operated out of (the now redeveloped) airfield at Hatfield. Can't wait to see it again.
