The long drop....

...what used to happen over here...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-28688474

Fascinated as I am, each day, glued to the "CBS Reality Channel 66" on my 'Tele, watching the daily antics of the Cops and Robbers in the USA... :D ....!

http://www.cbsreality.tv/uk/

In:
Bait Car.
Cops.
Cops Reloaded.
Jail.
Las Vegas Jail.
Judge Judy.

...etc...etc...

It never fails to amaze me how frantic the society is, with the prisons full of miscreants with their daily dose of Drugs and Booze...
...and some of them waiting for the big drop!

It tickles me to death as I watch the Cops desperately trying to think/dream up as many charges as they can think of, whilst they bundle the culprit, kicking and screaming, into the back of the Police Car!..... ... ...!

Its like all Hell breaks lose, minute by minute.... :o ...!

I sometimes wonder if North America has enough spare land mass to contain all the Prisons required to house all these folks!... :D ...!

Overall, it seems that the USA has some very unhappy, and discontented folks living there?.... ....

We get a few naughty toe-rags over here, but not as frantic as in the USA!... ....!

Entertainment at its best!.... ... ...!

Paul.....Watching Reality Channel 66, whilst my Friday Dinner is roasting in the gas oven (Pork Chops)...The best of both Worlds....Joy!.... ...!

Interestly enough, between my two adjacent counties, Miami Dade and Broward (B is directly north and somewhat smaller in area), on local news we hear about crimes etc in Broward, but almost never in Miami Dade County. Not that there's no crime here, but Broward really gets the hits, news and crime wise. I don't think the news is biased, news is news, and any crime situations in MD Co worthy of reporting would be reported on the news. I once asked a cop why this is, he said something like Broward just has a denser population per square mile. It does, so maybe that's it. I've been up to Broward enough in past years to know the geo layout, it's tougher to get around than Miami Dade, in general anyway, and you can easily see and compare population density. It's just that the differential in crime occurence seems tilted toward Broward.

@Apex...
Funny you should mention Broward, 'cos in the "Cops/Cops Reloaded" episode it seems that everyone and his dog living there is a tear-away Drug and Booze addict!.....
...its about equal to down-town Los Angeles, and Portland, Ohio!.... :o ....!

As the Cops close in, I am guessing what "nationality" the villains are....I am mostly right!.... ...!

So much fun and excitement!....Much better that "CSI" on the 'Tele!.... ...!

@ Doug...
...never fear, Doug...the Pork Chops were done to a turn!... ...!

Well, I'm pretty safe, I'd say, live in a good part of town, very quiet, & I know my adjacent neighbors, they're all clean. Plus, I just had my windows replaced with impact, insulated windows, so not worried about a home invasion, or burglars, or even hurricanes anymore. And hey, they've got an impact rating of "large missile", so sayeth the labels, so I'm not worried about any large missiles anymore either. Hmm, I wonder if they can take a beer can impact. Would that be full or empty? Uhhh, maybe I'd better empty one first.

Years ago I lived in Boston, Massachusetts.

It was interesting the way that they reported crime.

ONLY DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE!

After that, violent news might be reported for a day or two in the afternoon and/or evening news IF it was an exceptional crime, or involved someone important.

Live in a real safe upscale neighborhood? You're more likely to be robbed outside of your house.

If you're VERY unlucky, they may force you into one of two actions;

Make you bring them into your home so they can check out your finer possessions.

or

Seeing as you live in a nice area, you're bound to have a big fat bank account (right?) They make you drive to a ATM.

Either one of the two situations above will put you at a higher rick of being killed, according to the FBI.

And according to the FBI again - If they make you lie face down, or cover your head, your better start saying your prayers.

On a bright note

Many years ago three men carjacked a man and told him to drive to an out of the way ATM machine.

Because they were calling each other by name in front of him, (so to speak) he became increasingly convinced that once they got all the money that they would kill him.

Remember that I said that it was a carjacking? One of those things where one or more people jump into a car with the driver?

He believed in using a seatbelt. The criminals, didn't.

When he saw a large tree down the street he accelerated STREIGHT FOR IT.

Victim - 1. Carjackers - three zeros.
