Hi Salcidomd,

Unfortunately my experience is the logbook file can often get corrupted.

The problem is I understand that it is difficult to edit...notebook can read and edit but the results are shall we say, unpredictable.

My solution was to create a spreadsheet (.xls file) and record each flight when completed independent of FSX.

Also keep regular back-ups (copies) of the logbook file when in a known good state. Remember to include a date in the name.

When FSX stops loading, as you did, delete the logbook file. See if FSX works. Then copy the last known backup and replace the logbook file.

What I do is rely on the spreadsheet, but also remember to back that up as well.

regards

Algenon.

It flatly refused to be uninstalled, (a problem well known at the time...lots of little places it hides away), and the only way to get rid of it completely was to Format my Hard Drive!

Never again!
I steer well clear of Norton now!

I get this free from Comcast and I have never had any problems with uninstalling it. But it is somewhat of a resource hog. But for free you can not beat it.
What I like about it the most is the way it will keeps you out of bad web sites. It has a start up manager a registry cleaner and several other good tools to help you keep your computer clean and running good.

Garry....

My copy was the payware version, with an annual subscription, many years ago.
It was well known at the time for un-install difficulties. Various Forums disclosing various ways of getting rid of it!

AVG seems to do the job for me now, together with Spybot and Malwarebytes....and Glary Utilities.

Dodgy stuff is very rare on my computer...fortunately!

Glad you figured it out. A corrupted logbook is a known problem. http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/?title=Problem_Resolving_%28FSX%29#Scenario_2.29

Glad that I read this post as I just had the same thing happen to me with the corrupt logbook and deleating the file worked for me too :D . Man I love this forum! I used to just do a complete reinstall when this happened, what a pain. :(
Thanks for all of the good tips :D . Too many to mention.

Keep smiling
