Sometimes it just happens....

Postby ozzy72 » Tue Jul 15, 2014 4:12 pm

So after a couple of weekends fiddling, I finally got Kara the Kawasaki running again (don't mention ignition coils around me for the next month or two, I start foaming at the mouth like a rabid pitbull chewing a box of alka seltzer!) This morning she was booked in for her MOT, guess who decided to have a flat battery on me? So I pushed her across town to the garage (no jump facilities for 750cc sports bikes at home). They got her going and looked at me like I was the most dreadful muppet for turning up with a flat battery!
However this afternoon I had a call to say not only had she passed, but there were no faults of advisories, and I'd done a really good job on her... apart from pushing her to the garage 'cos her battery was flatter than Kylie's chest!
Mechanics, they never let you forget what a numpty you are do they? :-D
So a new tax disk tomorrow, and some serious road raping at the weekend O0 O0 O0

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

The thing which scares me, is the modern "Engine Management System" (Expensive Black Box!) fitted to the latest fuel injected Motorcycles, in place of the old, simple, Carburettor/Ignition set-up!
Any problems there, and its not a quick roadside fix!
It has advantages in fuel economy, power delivery, etc, but if something goes belly-up with one of the various sensors, in the middle of nowhere, then you are up the creek without a paddle...and an expensive fix!

Gone are the days of a few tools carried in the rucksack, to carry out a quick roadside repair!

I am forever glad of my (very expensive) Motorcycle Breakdown (£130 per Annum) service to get me and my Bike back home again!

Paul....I like being taken back home again... :D ...!

Green Flag are less than half of that Paul! I'm using them, about £45 a year and that includes breakdown recovery, home start, the lot!

I don't know what Green Flag covers for £45, Mark....

..but my (expensive) cover with the AA* gets me and my Bike straight back home, or my destination, if I wish, after a breakdown or fault, rather than a local Garage fix job.
It also covers any private (family) vehicle I am travelling in if the vehicle breaks down. It gets the car and all of us back home, or to our destination.

Its expensive, with maximum cover, but I have no fears of a breakdown, wherever I am.

Biking with no worries is a great feeling!... :D ..!

Paul.... ....!

Now there is an advantage of a Harley Davidson I weigh nearly as much as the Nimitz and can plough fields motorcycle over a modern crotch rocket, carbs, take them apart, clean them up and away you go..... :D
