dp files

Postby mustangaroo » Fri Jul 04, 2014 10:06 am

OK. I downloaded some files for the me-410 hornisse which have a dp suffix and I do not know how to make these work. Does someone know where these need to reside in order to show? Editing the config file maybe?

May i ask a Q.
(Dont have the ac.)
Does the DP files refer to Damage Profile, or to Desk Pilot?

I am unsure what dp means....ergo I have no idea what file might need them. I do suspect it concerns different load out situations for tanks and weapons but I am at a loss as to where they go. Maybe world textures?

Well DP files (Damage Profiles) are used in combat flight sims. I'm sure the dp-files you dl'ed are to be used in CFS2 for an older version of the aircraft!

yep, DP files are for combat flight sims.
they dictate how many weapons are installed, weapon type, location, rate of fire, dammage yield, ammo capacity and hitboxes for the aircraft.
you dont need them in fsx.

This is a educational moment for me. Thanks for all the input. I do have cfsim 2 and 3 but as yet have not even tried to add aircraft to either. Perhaps in the future but for now I will stick to what little I know (fs9+fsx).

Hold on a bit mustang, you cant add a fsx aircraft into CFS2/3! You need to find the me-410 made for that sim. I know there is one for CFS2.

I agree with Hagar, then we could be more specific ;)

I have great fun exploring my CFS 2 with some of my FS 2004 Aircraft, especially my trusty Cessna 152!

I have fitted my Cessna 150 with twin Browning machine guns, to ward off trigger-happy CF2'ers...

The FS 2002/FS 2004 Aircraft seem to work OK.

I would not expect CFS2 aircraft to work in FSX. CFS3 aircraft certainly wouldn't. That's the reason I'm curious to know which files we're talking about.

I get yalls drift. I was dinking around with files that won't work but they did not come with instructions. I feel stooopid like a pre schooler pounding square pegs into round holes. When I get to the point where it all makes sense I may not be able to enjoy flying my computer....but it keeps me out of bingo halls and away from gandy dancers.
